“Wouldn't stay again...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2011

We were disappointed with this hotel, having selected it using the reviews on this site. It is easy to find from the autoroute and parking was plentiful. However, our room was not ready when we arrived and I don't think that we have stayed in one that small before - it felt like being in a caravan! There is no drinks cooler and the room was generally far too hot. The bathroom was miniscule and functional - you need to bring your own toiletries. To make things worse, we had to fit a cot in the room, which meant that there was no room to walk into the bathroom without climbing over the bed!
We did drive into Limoges that evening but ended up back at the hotel for supper. Main courses were OK and wine was reasonable; desserts seem to be their speciality and these were excellent. We didn't stay for breakfast as it seemed to be expensive for what it was. When we came to pay the bill, we handed the residents' dinner discount voucher from our room to the receptionist, only to be told that it was only valid if we had showed it at the time, which seemed silly as we were paying the following day. After a bit of arguing, they did eventually agree to discount, but was an unpleasant end to the stay.

I'm not at all sure why this hotel has become the 3rd recommendation for Limoges on this site albeit after only two reviews. We stayed for the first night of our holiday here after reading the reviews and looking at the hotel website.

Basically this place is styled like an american motel with a room half the size of any motel room I've previously seen. We had booked a double room, but were given a twin which barely had room for the two narrow beds!. We were on the upper floor with a long american-style external balcony/corridor at the top of a spiral staircase (not the easiest to carry a case up!). All rooms on the top opened onto this balcony and as we were opposite the stairs we had to keep our blind down or curtains closed for any privacy. There was barely enough room to open a suitcase on the floor. The bathroom had no natural light and only a noisy fan for ventilation. The air conditioning was not working and when I asked to change rooms I was told, with a Gallic shrug, that no rooms had functioning air conditioning. Bathroom toiletries consisted of a tiny bar of soap!

We did not use the restaurant, but spoke to others who had and they were less than impressed.

For €75 I thought this was a poor value, dingy, small room inconveniently located and I assume it is aimed at workmen and the like visiting the nearby industrial estates. We passed other Campaniles in France and they looked exactly the same style and I'd advise you to drive past them and find something with a bit of character.
