“A joy to return to”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

We've been going to L'Arago for 8 years and it never disappoints. Great food (fresh pasta is particularly good but so is fish and meat), relaxed ambiance, when the weather is good (which is most of the time in Perpignan) it's wonderful to eat outside. The service is very friendly and prices are very reasonable too. The first floor might feel a bit crowded at times, so we prefer the terrace, the small balcony or the ground floor.

“Top location down town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

A rather tired menu card pinned up a little off-line with no dish of the day and in English too would normally not be a place I would eat at. However, it was a warm spring evening and the location was pleasant with some room between tables, so less chance of having one's dining experience ruined by smokers. Also I spied a French couple eating appetising dishes. I chose their speciality, " l'Entrecote" which I found excellent with tasty extras. For dessert, "Tarte Tatin" again with nice side extras. 50 cl of local red wine, plus a coffee for 32 Euro seemed fine to me. My waiters were pleasant and amusing, excellent service.

“Not worth all the hype”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2012 via mobile

This place is right in the middle of town, situated in a nice central square and even carries the name of the square (Place Arago). I was expecting something really extraordinary, as many people had told me that this was THE place to go in Perpignan. Sadly, it was just life every other bistro/resto in France that I've ever been to. The menu is large, with a lot of choices, but boring. Nothing on it is unique or something you wouldn't find in any other French city and the prices are much higher than they should be. I guess it's for the location and the name, but for the quality of food, the prices are not deserved.
The service was nothing to write home about either. Typical grumpy French waiter who seemed to be bothered by the simple fact that we decided to eat at his restaurant and he had to serve us. Not even a smile from him.
On the positive side, the location is very enjoyable. In the summer, there is the outside seating area in the square where you can watch the people go by, always nice.
Overall, it's not a BAD place, just nothing special or impressive. And for the price, I would recommend going elsewhere.

“Nice place to have pizza in Perpignan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2012

It serves pizza and other usual French meals that you would find in a French restaurant in Perpignan. Location wise it is on a pretty square so during the summer dining outside is a nice option. Service is good. Food is good. Price is reasonable.

“Don't waste your time or money”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2011

It's simply a tourist trap with bad food and poor service. Regretted it almost as soon as we sat down. In a country with great restaurants, this isn't one of them (and we were just hoping for good, not great). I had read the positive reviews on TripAdvisor prior to eating here. I guess each to their own. Buyer beware. Get off the main drag and wander. Much better places to be found.
