“Great location, comfortable and good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

First of all, I'd like to say that the receptionist was outstanding, her name was Linda and she went way over and above to help me out with finding medical assistance for my daughter's friend travelling with us. She had no time to spare, and still phoned quite a few places trying to set us up with a doctor's office that could see us in such short notice. She was definitely an angel and her attitude changed my mind about the traditional French attitude.
The location was great. Rooms were very comfortable and newly renovated for such old building.

This hotel looked good & read well on the net.
Yes it was extremely handy to the SNCF rail station & main tram lines.
Also it was comfortable walking to the main square, cafes, restaurants & shops.
The room was clean & slightly dated. Time for new bedspreads.
The major downside was no air-conditioning which was well noted on the website.
We should have suspected it was not working as there was a desk fan in our room that only pushed the hot air around.
Finally at 3am we managed to open a very sticky, jammed window which offered little relief to the 35C weather.
Management should have advised us of this matter upon arrival & at least given a discount on the room.
Would I stay again. More likely not.

Room Tip: Request a quiet inside room rather than street side.

We arrived by train and walked to the hotel it was a circa 7 minute walk for us with luggage. The receptionist and staff were friendly. The hotel clean and well maintained. The main square of the old town is a 5 minute walk with cafes and restaurants and lively atmosphere at your doorstep. We were generally delighted with the place.

It is difficult to find fault with this hotel. However, some minor criticisms are: there was no shower curtain and the toilet got flooded when showering. Also, the air conditioning is very noisy but this didn't prevent us from having good nights sleep. Given the peak season it was reasonably priced at £100 a night with morning tea included. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is only 5 mins walk from the SNCF station and less than 10 mins from a large restaurent area.
All the staff spoke English and were very helpful.
My bedroom had air conditioning which was very necessary with temperatures in the 30s.
Despite the two tram routes passing the hotel I had no problem getting a good nights sleep.
There was a good selection of items for breakfast
I would use this hotel again..

Room Tip: As I had no problems I copuld make no suggestions.

We stayed here just one night at the end of a cycling tour across the South of France and it was everything we were hoping for. Perfectly located just 5 minutes walk from the old town and the train station, a quiet private courtyard where we could lock up our bikes, big quiet clean air-conditioned rooms with huge plasma screen TVs and massive rain-cascade showers. The receptionist was so friendly and helpful, plus one of the really big bonuses is that check-in time is really early (from 1pm) and check-out pretty late (11:30am). Would definitely come back here.

The Royal Hotel is located in an older hotel building. Our room had been recently renovated, and was clean, comfortable with free wireless internet access. Staff was pleasant. Hotel is a short, easy walk from the train station. Hotel is also a convenient walk to the town square and many restaurants. We were pleased with the accommodations, and would definitely stay there again.

Hotel is in a great location centrally and good value.
It may be a bit dated but clean.
Would have got a four rating but the air conditioning in our room (207) was useless not strong or cold enough to cool a room. We were awake most of the night due to the heat in between cold showers!
Also no fridge so you can't store any chilled drinks to cool down.
