The beach is amazing. It was a bit of a challenge to get there from Montpellier (visiting for the first time) but well worth the effort. It is large and offers a wonderful swim and endless walk if you like wandering along the shoreline (watch out though, the sand can get really hot ;)).
My travel: bus 106 from Montpellier, got out at Le Grau du Roi Ecoles (the stop behind the bridge). Then rented a bike in Le Grau du Roi (some place on the beach side of the town). Cycled to Espiguette - a bit on the road, then on cycling track through Petite Camargue. Left the bike on the parking lot.
The bus back stops on the same spot as the bus there. Check the timetable, there were only a few rides back to Montpellier.
