We got a deal for 2 adjoining rooms for our family of four. It was perfect! Breakfast was great. The kids loved the pool and we could walk to restaurants for dinner. Not walkable to any Montpellier sites but a quick drive or tram ride.
Very much like any american hotel.

A business trip with family prompted a week long stay in a suite. The hotel clearly has the 'new feel' to it. Very clean overall, good sized bedrooms and small but accommodating pool (not very warm). Do to be put off regarding location. Tram stops opposite the hotel and a few minutes only to get to the centre of Montpellier.
Breakfast very expensive resorting to a very nice nearby patisserie for breakfast within a few minutes walk. Lunch and evening meals however better priced and worth a try (similar prices to the centre).
Negatives - when in a suite for three people, a daily call to reception was needed to remind housekeeping to bring three towels, cups etc

I stayed for 7 nights in August 2012 and had a very relaxing, excellent stay. The swimming pool, though small was a really nice place to relax, the fitness room, though small, had all that was needed to rid yourself of some excesses. Though you seem way out of town, looking at a map, in reality you are no more than 25 minutes strolling distance from the 'Place de Comedies' or the 'Odysseum'. If you don't like walking their are trams right outside the hotel, a cheap way to get around. There are too many restaurants to mention so choice is no problem. The days of cheap eating/drinking are gone but the ambience makes up for this. It is just nice to eat without having to get a table number, pay, wait and then be force fed so the table cn be made available fo the next 'cover'.
I only had drinks nd a snack in he hotel as it was far cheaper to eat out and enjoy the city but according to those who had partaken it was excellent, but pricey. A trip, via tram, to the beach is worth it, not commercial, mainly locals but nice sandy beach. My only complaint was that the only mozzie bites I got were in he bar at the hotel, needs addressing!!
Montpellier is a lovely place, a mixture of old and new, fascinating views, the arc de triomphe, street artists, friendly and somewhere I will definitely return to.

Don't be put off by this new hotel being a couple of miles from the old town. State of the art trams run right outside -- one track goes to the centre in under 10 minutes. It couldn't be more convenient. The hotel facilities and staff are excellent. We booked ahead for a sizeable standard twin room at 99 euros a night. The beds were divine and there was a full bath en-suite. It was also very quiet at night. We didn't sample breakfast because Montpellier has dozens of outdoor restaurants and bars to try out in the summer. A lovely modern hotel in what is, in our view, the most attractive and vibrant city in the whole south of France. If you want a day by the sea go no further than the relatively uncommercialised Palavas les Flots. Take the number 3 tram to Perols L'etang followed by a short ride on the 131 bus to the lively old town centre. There are miles and miles of beaches. Also recommended is the 75-minute bus ride from Odysseum (accessible by tram) via La Grande Motte to Aigues Mortes on the edge of the Camargue. A boat trip from there gave us a view of the famous wild bulls and white horses.
