This hotel is wonderful, we spent 4 nights there this April and had a lovely time. It is family run and has a lovely feeling about it.

Don't go expecting 5* luxury, it isn't. But for 75 euros a night for a double room with ensuite bathroom it is the best value ever. The rooms are fairly spacious with decent size bathrooms and plenty of storage space. The 'common parts' are a little run down, and the decor is not modern, but that all added to the charm in my opinion.

If you can, get a room at the front of the hotel which have gorgeous little French balconies and look over a pedestrianised street with a cafe opposite. Beautiful.

The breakfast is basic, but good, with yoghurt, croissants, baguette etc. They do no other meals, but with the sheer number of restaurants on the doorstep that really doesn't matter.

The location, however, is what really matters and this could not be in a better place. It is in the old town which is peaceful and beautiful, it is ten minutes walk from the Jardin des Plantes which is unmissable and right next to the most fantastic shops. Montpellier itself is quite a large city, but the central part (which is the only bit you really want to be in) is small and this hotel is right there in the heart of it.

You wont be disappointed.

Having picked up a leaflet at the tourist office, we read TripAdvisor reviews then visited in person to book. Staff very helpful, room small but clean with fresh flowers. Breakfast was superb, best continental breakfast we had in a two week tour.

Stayed 3 nights in the beginning of July 2006.This small hotel lies in a charming place in the middle of old Montpellier. The location couldn't be better; quiet, central and even with green surroundings. The atmosphere of the hotel is relaxed, and the staff very helpful. Parking is just two minutes away. You pay 7 Euros for 24 hours if you get a note from the hotel's desk that confirm you are a gest at the hotel. Beautiful french breakfast also served on the terrace in front of the hotel. Our room and bathroom were well equipped and clean. Hotel Du Palais is really good value for those who prefer small and intimate hotels.

We visited at the end of March and stayed at this wonderful small hotel in the medieval part of Montpellier. We stayed in two different rooms and had a fine time.

Initially when we checked in, our reservation was under my first name rather than last - which no one discovered until we were back in the States. Despite that, the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were placed in available rooms. One, room 26, was extremely spacious, very much a suite in size, and the other was more typical of European hotels. They were clean and well-maintained. Breakfast was offered, but we chose local patisseries for our trip out each day, so I can't comment on that.

Local restaraunts are very close along with patisseries. Place de Comedie is within fifteen minutes walking and the Arch is within five minutes walking.

Just came back from our trip to France. We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. Very good location. Rooms are tiny but clean. Good price. We did not eat breakfast there so I cannot comment on that. Front desk staff could be warmer but they were ok. Most of them spoke and understood English although did not admit it at first (for some reason).
If you are driving factor in parking fee per day. It was about 13 euros per day for us.
