“Hard to find but worth it in the end!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2015

We were visiting a couple of wine producers in the area and decided to try this hotel. It took us nearly half an hour to find as it is not exactly in the centre although it was only a 20 minute walk to the Place de la Comedie. The room was well appointed with a private balcony which would have been very pleasant in the summer and the underground car park was very useful. The Buffet breakfast was good quality and we both had a good night's sleep. The full rack rate seemed expensive but we had booked through Travel Republic who offered a great price. There was no restaurant on site but many within a 20 minute walk.

Average but nothing special. First the positives. Decent location, about a 5 minute walk to the center of the old town, secured parking, great staff. The negatives, the room was pretty small, the bathroom was even smaller, the bed linens were lower quality. The place wasn't expensive but what you got for what we paid didn't seem like good value. Not a bad place just not a place I'd go again.

Room Tip: I'd skip their breakfast, over priced. There is a great crepe place on the public square.

We enjoyed our two nights at Hotel Ulysse - our room (303) was decent sized and very clean, with a very nice bathroom and a private balcony. Location wise, the hotel is in a quiet residential area very close to a pharmacy and a patisserie (perfect for breakfast - take it back to your balcony to enjoy). It's a simple ten minute walk into the centre proper.

A couple of foibles stopped this being a 5 star review - the bed is very, very hard, and the bath towels are tiny!

Special mention to the young lady working on the front desk in the evenings. Extremely friendly, excellent English and always ready to help. Thank you!

Very well appointed rooms with all mod cons. Very helpful staff. Very good location - but quiet!
The hotel was very close to Corum exhibition centre and old town. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in the locality to eat at. We would go back!

When searching for accommodation in Montpellier, we found that prices seemed quite expensive for what you got. We wanted somewhere fairly central, walking distance to sights, clean and friendly. With more affordable options over the river (a bit too far we felt) we opted for the Ulysee and were pleased with our choice. We checked in a little early but our room was ready. Service on check-in was swift and very friendly, with the receptionist giving us a map and explaining about the main sights. She also recommended a lovely square (road Rue des Ecole Laiques) where there was a good choice of restaurants in the evening - this was only about a ten minute walk away and we ate there every night.

The room was well appointed with a lovely bathroom. It was a little on the small side, but we were only there for 3 nights and this didn't bother us.

We didn't have breakfast because we felt it was expensive; there is a small cafe near the Corum tram stop less than a ten minute walk away which does a range of pastries and coffee and opens quite early. We did have to stroll to the Place Comedie on Sunday though.

The hotel is in a quiet, pleasant residential area but really is not far at all from bars, restaurants, cafes and so on. I wouldn't say it was 'out of the town centre' - ten minutes and you are by one of the bigger tram interchanges and not much further and you are near most of the main sights. We did everything by foot with the exception of the aquarium which is end of the tram line.

We did have to check out sometime before 8 I think and the receptionist hadn't turned up yet -we needed to catch a bus and were a bit worried that we'd miss our connection whilst we waited in reception for her. Luckily all was all right, but might be worth knowing in case other TA members are in a similar position - in hindsight we'd have clarified this the night before.

We'd stay again.

Stayed for an extended meeting in the city. It was a nice hotel, quiet and still close to the center. It's nice for an evening walk. Service was also great. Rooms were a bit small but since it was summer that was really a problem. You can work outside with wifi.

I have just returned from a one night stay in the Hotel Ulysse, and was very impressed. The hotel & room was spotless, quaint and well appointed with a comfy bed, good shower and minibar.
There is secure underground parking for EUR12.50 a night, and the hotel is easy to find, and only a short 10 min stroll to the centre. We paid 100 EUR for a double room without breakfast, paying extra for parking. There are better deals out there I think if you dont have a car with you, but all in all a good hotel.
Hotel staff were very helpful providing maps and plenty info on what to see/do.
