“OK, but could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2011

Be very careful when booking this hotel. Most rooms have a sofa-bed, not a proper bed. Be very specific if you want a single/double bed. The positive aspects of the hotel are the location, the internet wireless and kitchen, besides the friendly staff. The negative aspects are the noises from other apartments (especially if you are at the ground floor as the apt above can be very noisy), the dirty carpet and blankets, the crowded breakfast room, and stained towels. I would not stay in this hotel again, but certainly in the area. The tram number 1 is very convenient, as the shopping mall and open market near by.

Room Tip: Ask for an apartment with a proper bed

Three tram stops from the old town, the hotel is reasonably well located in the new Antigone neighborhood. Maybe the other rooms are better so if you ever go there avoid the ground level. We were in a room with no view, so it was dark and gloomy. The furniture was old and the carpet didn't look that clean. The bathroom was rusty. Breakfast, well, it's not that easy to find bad croissants in France. So, maybe in another apartment it is better, but I would not stay here again. Which was a bad surprise because my husband had stayed at one of their hotels in London and had really liked it.

This hotel is in the ideal location, a short distance from the square in the vibrant centre of Montpellier and all other amenities. There is a tram stop right outside the hotel which links with the train station and all bus services. The reception staff were very helpful, the studio apartment that we stayed in was clean and adequate for a city break. The downside being the balcony was in a very poor condition, badly in need of a revamp. However i considered it good value for money and would use it again if i return to montpellier.

The hotel has a great location 5 min walk from the main square of the historic downtown and the Polygone shopping mall. The hotel is clean, parking in the building makes it even more comfortable. I stayed in an apartment unit and it is perfect for two people. Staff was helpful. Of course, Montpellier is just awesome.

Room Tip: Choose one facing the garden.

This 3-star apartment/hotel has a tram stop right outside its entrance but if you feel like walking, it's about 10minutes walk through the Antigone Shopping Centre to the Plaze Comedie. In other words, it's a great location.

When we arrived, we were greeted by a one of the lovely reception staff, Renaud. He was very patient with us and happy to arrange many things for us.

The hotel was old (don't expect 5-start amenities) but clean and comfortable. There was fast wi-fi throughout the hotel. Overall it was great value for money.

Whilst their website is modern clean and slick, don't be surprised if your room doesn't live up to the impression given by the webite. This hotel is a far cry from its first flush of youth. Our room had chipped paintwork on the skirting boards, stained carpets, what looked like cigarette burns on the blanket, cracked sink and tiles in the bedroom. The bath was cracked and rusting. The shower head was clogged up with limescale and leaked. Generally speaking the rooms are a lot shabbier than they appear from the pictures on the website.

A special mention must be given to the fold-out bed. The website makes it clear that the smaller apartments have a settee that doubles as the bed so it didn't come as a surprise. What did come as a surprise was just how uncomfortable it was. While this might be acceptable for a domestic foldout bed that gets used a couple of times a year
for a hotel room, if you are offering a foldout bed as an alternative to a real bed it needs to be much higher quality than this.

This is an "Apart-hotel" rather than a full service hotel, the rooms are equipped with a basic kitchen and the idea is clearly that most guest will be doing some at least some self catering. There is even a laundrette in the basement. The hotel does offer breakfast but at €9 per head I wasn't tempted to try it so can't comment there.

Whilst there is plenty that I would take issue with it does have a number of positives that meant it just squeaked 3 stars with me. Compared with many of the other hotels in and aroiund the city centre the prices were very reasonable. The hotel may have been shabby, but it was generally clean and the staff pleasant and helpful. The final ace that this hotel holds is it's location. A very pleasant 5 minutes stroll from the Place de la Comedie makes this a very handy base to explore Montpellier and with tram stops just outside it's equally handy if you want to venture further.
