“Very good family stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2014

The hotel is very cute, we had a large family room, with very comfy beds! The hotel is well situated a short walk away from the castle. We were also very impressed with the buffet breakfast, good value for money and a very nice home made jam!! The hosts Catherine & Jean-Michel were very helpful and kind.

I arrived by train from Perpignan and was pleased to find my room had more space than my last. I stayed 4 nights. The owners had only just taken over 4 weeks before my arrival so were busy making changes. Husband and wife were lovely, accommodating, friendly and very helpful. It is well located on the street leading up to the old city. A few minutes walk.

Almost next door there is a lovely cafe owned by Mother and daughter which is open most of the day so you can eat there and the food and coffee is good. Across the road is a Bakery that has good rolls, cakes and coffee. Further up the street on the left, across the road, is a restaurant opening at night. Food is good there but you have to get in early at opening or book.

My room overlooked the small courtyard area and was comfortable. You can sit in the courtyard by going through the small eating area. The bathroom is in need of some changes but it was adequate and over time the new owners will be doing work in this small hotel. The hallway outside my room had windows facing the old city so the view of it was fantastic and very photographic. There is a small rooftop area which overlooks other buildings and faces the old city.

I would go back and stay here. Breakfast is provided if you want it but I like to get something different and more substantial than the usual European breakfast so ate elsewhere.

If you are looking for a small, charming type hotel, with good owners, good pricing and an excellent location close to the old city and don't expect a fancy place then this could be for you.

I flew to Bournemouth from here to start the U.K. part of my trip.

Room Tip: My room was cool and could open windows. No need for air conditioning. Faced the courtyard and was...

Our family of four stopped in Carcassonne on the way down to Spain and I have to say it was one of the highlights of the holiday. Carcassonne itself is a fantastic walled citadel - OK a little busy in mid August but nothing uncomfortable. I was quite surprised not only by the volume of restauarants within the walled city but also the prices - for a "captive audience" it is quite reeasonable to eat out. We stayed at the Vieux Pont just outside the walls, and although £100 per night we felt the location and the easy going nature of the place made it worth it. There is secured parking 20 yards down the road, and our room overlooked the street from the top floor, an ideal viewpoint for the bustle below. The owners were very helpful and friendly. Would recommend.
