“Ideal hotel for city break in Carcassonne”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

Have just returned from a 3 night stay in this hotel. The rooms and shower rooms are small,as others have mentioned, but they are clean, comfortable, and fine for a city break ,when you do not spend much time in them! The staff were friendly, helpful, and speak English,if your French, like mine,is a bit rusty!Think they appreciated my effort! The breakfast, whilst slightly limited in choice ,was good, everything being quickly replenished.Good coffee, and juice from machines.at 9euro 50,thought it was good value. It is in an excellent location for exploring the medieval city, being about 10 minutes over the bridge,What not many have mentioned is how attractive the new town "Bastide" is-and again, the hotel is only a short ,pleasant, walk to the centre, and the Canal du Midi.It would benefit from having a proper lounge bar,as the local restaurant/bars seemed to close early, and we struggled to get a drink after we had dinner and were strolling home. All in all I would recommend.

Room Tip: high room at the front overlooking a large pleasant square-we were on 3rd (top)floor

Not much to say about this property except yup don't always get what you pay for. As far as budget hotels go this I not cheap. Set in the corner of a large arid square, the hotel seems to be hiding from public view.
The room we had is one of the smallest we have ever had with a bathroom to match. We were on the back of the property overlooking a building which has been partially gutted, an ideal setting for a movie war zone set.
The staff were accommodating and appeared to making the best of what they had to work with.
Free WiFi throughout the hotel.
We did not have breakfast hitch was available for an extra 9.50 euros.
It is at least a 20 minute walk from the train station but only 5 to the town and about 30 minutes to the hilltop citadel.
Fine for a short stay in a town with lots to do, so little time will be spent in the hotel anyway.

I would not recommend this hotel if you manage to find another place in a city that is quite touristy in the high season. Compared to what it offers (and also compared to other Ibis Hotels) it is very overpriced. Rooms are very small, bathrooms tiny (impossible to fit two people into the bathroom), bed had a bunkbed over our heads on the wall (no idea how this room could fit three people) which gave the whole room the feeling of being in a youth hostel, everything is quite old and needs urgently redoing. Location is fine as mentioned in other reviews.

No frills hotel pleasant scenic 15 minute walk to old City crossing the medieval bridge and views to the castle. European breakfast was satisfying. Rooms are cozy and bathrooms are very small. Staff very helpful, a good base to sleep while you explore during the day.

This was a great location and the hotel was fine.

The staff were very friendly and the garage is secure for storing our bicycles.

The staff also recommended a great place to eat :)

It's just a short walk to the cite and the views from the bridge (round the corner from the hotel) are amazing.

Located near the heart of Carcassonne on a busy thoroughfare. Ten minutes walk from rail station and also the old city. Only five minutes to the main shopping centre. Rooms were very cramped especially the bathroom and the price paid reflected the popularity of the city. Free wifi but breakfast separate at 9.5 euro.

Room Tip: Noisy location with heavy traffic both day and night. Ask for a room at the back.
