Nice decoration, and well placed hotel.
Nice heigh ceilings.
Windows not well insulated- when it rains, it rains inside the room.
Service is friendly, they gave us a good recommendation for an amazing local restaurant, overall nice atmosphere.
Parking was included, good service.

I found this hotel quite nice, I was in a tiny town Palavas Les Flot and I wanted to visit other places, they told me that Aigues Mortes was a nice little historic town, and it was. I found this hotel in the center of the historical town and i loved it, i didn't take the breakfast but I did had lunch and it was a very gastronomic restaurant, you have to try it :) The pool isnt a big one, but you dont need more in this boutique hotel, the bed and the room in general were comfy. The ladies in the front desk were helpful in a french way ;) If there is something to keep in this hotel is the restaurant and the spirit of this very "old bourgeoise house"

Room Tip: We stayed in Colbert Room

This is a good, pleasant small hotel in a quiet area of the walled city, very well located for walking around, for restaurants, etc.The rooms are individual, large, clean and well appointed with A/C included. Parking is outside the city walls and is free, but the system no longer involves being given a plastic exit card. Instead, you enter the parking lot like anyone else, but instead of paying to exit, you have to call the Parking Attendant via the intercom (at the barrier, not the payment machine) and tell them you are guest at the hotel. Not easy for the non-French speaker... Equally not easy getting all this explained by the non-English speaking hotel staff. I found it a bit nerve-wracking in anticipation and in fact. It does all work, but be aware of what you need to do or else you will spent 20 minutes trying to work it all out.

It was very good hotel in southern France, I can stay in a good classic room, and can try a very good restaurant in this hotel always.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2011

we called at 530 pm on a friday in January, and asked for a room with one bed, the hotel was empty, when we asked if he could give us a reduced price (his price was 104€ without breakfast which is not a cheap rate by any stretch of the imagination and this was the slowest week of the year - right after new year) he was unpleasant and spoke to us like we were beggars, finally my husband suggested to include breakfast (otherwise 12€/p for french breakfast) and he reluctantly agreed. He then brought us to a room with 2 single beds (remember the hotel was empty) and when we mentionned we wanted one bed hereluctantly agreed to a room with one big bed. Then when I asked where I could park he sent us out of the city, we later found out that in winter you can park anywhere right next to the hotel, but he didn't help with bags and decided that it would amuse him to have us carry everything through the streets... truly unpleasant.
The hotel room was nice, clean, small bed but nice sheets and warm and well heated, with an ok bathroom. Generally the hotel would be high on my list of places to stay but the owner is soooo unpleasant and the staff we met in the morning is just the same that I would recommend to stay elswhere and spend the money at some of the brilliant restaurants in Aiguesmortes. I should point out, I am French from the area and speak with local accent so I never expect the best but know when the person is being rude beyond what is acceptable.
I heard there is a nice friendly hotel "les templiers" and would recommend to try that one rather than les arcades and Mr Mean.
We did not eat in his restaurant even though recommended by Michelin because we were worried he would spit in our food and did not want to give him our business. We went to bar a vin where the staff were very nice the food remarquable (especially the petite bouilleabaisse, the seiches were average) and the wine very good with an unusal selection to choose from.
