“Average hotel let down by being in an expensive area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013 via mobile

The hotel location is fine, for business and evenings out. This is a typical city hotel, small rooms and the tightest car park!

There is no bar and the breakfast is very basic buffet which you're charged €14 for! - complete rip off!

I'd stay again but I'd avoid breakfast like the plague

Lovely renovated throughout, spotlessly clean, good location for the Chateau & eateries which are all along the street, reception very helpful and friendly and English speaking. Rooms on the small side but smartly decorated. Openable windows. Residential quiet street. Didn't do breakfast as ate out, but little kids eat for free so were able to take food for them.

Main downside: aircon made a scraping noise alternating every 5 or 10 minutes all through the night. Will keep some people awake. Staff knew of this problem, offered us discount. We also couldn't have the window open through the night as had little kids in the room and it was hot outside.

Also, there is no bath; wifi (although free) keeps kicking you out after only a few minutes; breakfast not included & expensive.

Parking is provided at a fee but we had to park elsewhere as had a roofbox - but found a secure site very close.

Recommend as a short stay hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room without a noisy air con

Comfortable stay but the house keeping was inconsistent ......,hot breakfast which one has paid for was always over much before the deadline. The ac in the room made loud sounds all night.Once we had tea and coffee downstairs at the lobby and the receptionist made it happily.Later we were charged for it.They should have told us before serving.

Visiting with friends and family we had access to a number of rooms - invariably they were all on the small side but hey this is just a "sleeping factory" offering, clean, comfortable "value for money" accommodation close to one of Paris' main attractions - the magnificent Versailles Palace. The Hotel is situated in a great area for restaurants and ambiance. Nice "no fuss" breakfast with simple fayre. Friendly and helpful staff - a big thank you.
Paris lives up to its reputation is a "must see" city but can be eyewateringly expensive - you have been warned. You only live once!

Room Tip: This Hotel is situated is a quiet part of town so you should get a good nights sleep free of traffic...

Nice hotel, quiet, in a good location. Room was smallish, but very clean with an excellent shower. Would use again. Only negative would be high cost of a very average breakfast option. Don't let this put you off though, just go elsewhere to eat !

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to post a Trip Advisor Review following your recent stay at Mercure Versailles Château.
I am glad to hear overall of your thoughts that you enjoyed the hotel. The breakfast is an extra of 14€, this is a buffet made of a selection of organic food, and plenty of other great products.

We look forward to your next visit.

Kind Regards

J.BONOMO

We stayed on the bottom level, just a few meters from the reception area. We could hear phones ringing and people checking in and out the entire time!
I didn't get recognition or bonuses for being a gold Le club member. I would not stay here again

Early June proved to be a lovely time to travel in Versailles. Although there only for one evening, the hotel was well located on a side street and quiet. They helped us by holding our luggage on day #2 so that we could make a trip to the Gardens of Versailles. We saw the inside of the palace on day #1. It is necessary to plan 2 days for this museum and grounds.
Thank you to hotel personnel for all their guidance and help.
