“Fascinating insights bring history to life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013 via mobile

We made our own way to Versailles by train having booked our tour in advance online. As we were a bit early, we viewed the gardens first. Being Tuesday there was beautiful classical music playing but no fountains.

Our guide was Pauline and she enthralled us with stories about the excesses of the Louis'. No wonder there was a revolution.

We thoroughly enjoyed our guided tour and would recommend it as good value and worthwhile for the insights we got from our knowledgeable guide.

“Well worth the Euros for English guide”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

CHAOS is the only word I can use to describe Versailles and its crowds; fortunately for our group , the English speaking guide, Pauline, provided clear and pithy insight into the culture and the life/times of Louis 14, 15 and 16. She was able to negotiate the teeming crowds with little difficulty and our group of about 30 were led room by room with relative ease--all things considered. I can't imagine visiting Versailles' palace without a tour leader; Guidatour was
better than I had imagined it would be. Thanks Pauline!

“Easy Booking fr USA, Helpful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

Before booking, emailed Guidatours with some questions re their Versailles Tours. Received helpful answers regarding how to best travel to their office considering some weekend rail issues in Oct '13. They were very helpful and gave us straightforward information in detail about best rail station to use. All emails were in English which was important for me.
Upon our arrival, their staff walked us to Versailles to meet our assigned guide. There were 14 of us on the tour and the guide assigned to us (Pauline) was very good. Well informed and a sense of humor concerning the French Monarchy and the current day crowds @ Versailles.

“Hide your wallet and run for the hills!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

Use this service ONLY for transport from the train RER station to the Palace of Versailles, they act like you're with them and will guide you in to paying more than the gate admission. Just keep repeating no thanks and walk away from this shifty bunch of con artists! Pay your €3 for the trip and run, don't walk to the gates of the palace. They truly overcharge and one fellow's bold face lies had 6 of us all making eyes at each other when we caught him in his lies. They charge €3 each way. Always ask for receipts and tickets because they'll take your money and turn away from you and then pretend they don't know you. You'll have no proof that you paid.

We are really sorry about your bad experience in Versailles. This little train has nothing to see with Guidatours: it's a private company called "Le Petit train de Versailles".

Our main office is located in front of Versailles Rive Gauche railway station and we have a second office close to the Palacee, in the Court of Scents.

Every week-end of October the usual railway station for most of the people coming from Paris, I mean Versailles Rive Gauche Chateau de Versailles, is closed because of works on the line.

Versailles Chantiers, where you arrived is about 15 mn walk from the Palace and that company of little train decided to make transfers for 3 euros one way. That's not our decision!...

They accepted that our staff could ask people to buy our Palace tickets or tours when they stop by the Cour des Senteurs office.

On our website you can check we sell tickets at the very same price as at the Palace. In our office we also do, if you buy just a Palace ticket or Palace and gardens tickets. We charge 1.50 euros for people buying a one-day pass.

We have been working in Versailles for 10 years and we really don't deserve such a review. But of course I can understand the bad feeling you had.

I hope you see things more clearly now.

Kind regards

“Incredible sight”

We visited Versailles and had prebooked a tour in English. It was fascinating and astounding all at once. The tour was very good.
