Owner description: Having walked through the majestic main courtyard of the Royal Stables, you enter a disarming place of luxurious simplicity.Founded in 2003 by Bartabas inside the Royal Stables of the Palace of Versailles, the Academy of Equestrian Arts is a very unique corps de ballet. The originality of this equestrian choreographic school-company is, that it combines both transmission of equestrian knowledge and practice of other disciplines such as fencing, dance, singing and Kyudo (traditional Japanese archery). Equerries therefore gain a true artistic sensibility, enabling them to develop their own repertoire. Through Les Matinales des Ecuyers, dressage lessons performed by the Academy’s riders with their mounts, demonstrating precision, rigor and gentleness of training, the public is invited to enter the intimacy of the Academy. The performance La Voie de l'Ecuyer, choreographed by Bartabas reflects the daily work of this company-school.

“A cut above the ordinary.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

The display of horsemanship was wonderful to see and the horses were very beautiful. However though the audience was invited to see the animals afterwards, the girls were putting them away and were really quite snooty & unfriendly. No photo's were allowed even though they had been promised beforehand. Good show though and the stables themselves were something to see. Fabulous decor.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing your opinion !
That is very great that you enjoyed the show and the visit of the stables !
However we can understand your frustration about not being allowed to take pictures or to see the horses closer. Indeed it is a fact that the horses are a bit afraid when there is a lot of people around, even if they get more and more used to it with time. But the riders can't take the risk something happens to somebody and they prefer to keep distance with the public. It is not a matter of being arrogant, it is just about being careful with their horses and with the people around.

Hope you'll have the chance to visit us again !

“Unmissable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We went to the morning practice show which was less formal and great for kids and adults alike. The precision and skill shown was astonishing. As an attraction this is so different and well worth a visit

“Must see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2011

Brilliant, the spectacular event was booked out, however we saw the 45 minute Session at 11:15am called Les Matinales Des Ecuyers.. This was an equestrian show of horse riding skills , the horses alone were worth seeing.

Hi Gordon !

Thanks a lot for your message, we discover it only now.
What a pity you couldn't see the show but that doesn't surprise us... the last days of December are always full very quickly ! A chance you could see the morning session and visit the place because as you say, it's really worth !

Hope you'll have the opportunity to visit us again !

“Worth it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2010

Though this is nothing like the class of the Hofreitschule in Vienna (Austria) or even Le Cadre Noir in Saumur (France), it is still worth a visit, because the show itself is fascinating and also as you are given the chance to visit the magnificent king's stables. Children will love this.

Hi !

Thank you for the comment ! The Hofreitschule and Le Cadre Noir are nice places to be compared with. Each one has her own way to be magic and every time it is a good opportunity to travel and discover wonderful cities !

“Versailles Equestrian Show”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2010

If you love horses, or just love to see great shows, visit the new horse show at the Royal Stables - across from the main gate of Versailles Palace. Its a quite lovely, the horses are young and this is not of the calibre of Lippizaners, but never-the-less a great addition to any trip. In the morning there is a shorter training show, in the afternoon the full spectacle.
