I first went to this restaurant in 2000 with my French professor, and I've been back on every subsequent trip to Paris.
The menu has changed over the years, and the prices have gone up, but the ambiance is still eclectic and funky. The food is more expensive than it was back then (not just in real terms but in relative terms0, but the menu is more sophisticated than it used to be. The salads are lovely and the mains are interesting and satisfying. The desserts are also good. I recommend the salad with jambon de pays and chevre frais!
The best value is a week-day lunch "formule" for 12 euros--a plat and either entree or dessert. The dinner formules are also a good value.
On more than one occasion in the last 13 years the restaurant has been closed when it should have been open, but I usually go back on another day to try again.
