“Too Bad we Actually had to Eat!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

Let's just start by saying that the Eiffel Tower at night is magical, especially from this space! One could assume from the menu/pricing/and website that Les Ombres is a fine dining restaurant - that would be a mistaken assumption! The wait staff is just awful! There are lots of people, all looking very busy, but not really accomplishing anything. It reminded us of a funny French satire! Our food was certainly not awful, but it did lack imagination and frankly was not very memorable. We did finally order 2 full bottles and 1 1/2 bottle of wine, but only after finding 2 of our original choices no longer available. (Never a good thing!) Oddly enough, there were lots of local people eating here. I would expect this low standard to be more typical of a tourist trap.

“Poor use of an evening.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

A poor excuse for fine dining. The wait staff seemed to be working their first night. The servers used smart phones and seemed to be more interested in their devices than their customers. The food was pedestrian and the "view" of the Eiffel Tower was a joke.

“Excellent food and view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

I made reservations in advance online. It's located in the Musee Branley and actually looks a little rundown from the outside going into the elevator. However, once you get upstairs into the restaurant it is an open and pleasant space. The view of the Eiffel Tower is amazing from here. When I got there it was still light and was able to get great photos of the tower as it got dark and the light show from the outdoor terrace.

I thought the food was one of the better meals I have had in a restaurant. I had the three course meal. Starter was a cold melon sout (which was probably the star of the meal), I had the grilled salmon, and the chocolate mouse and sorbet for desert. I also had kir, water, and coffee and the total was approx 85 euros which I thought was reasonable. The service was excellent and I didn't feel rushed at all. I definitely recommend Les Ombres if you are looking for somewhere a little special while in Paris.

“Pretty good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

i went at lunch time, and there were very few people there. The food was satisfactory, apart from their lamb, which was spectacular. The view of the Eiffel Tower is probably the explanation for the prices they have, as it is a very great view. Being able to see the Eiffel Tower well was great for me, since I had absolutely no intention of going up it. After all, the whole thing about the Eiffel Tower is to see it, not look from it.

“Nice, but pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

One does not expect to find an expensive resturant in a Musem, but that is where Les Ombres is located. However, one can see why; the views of the Eiffel Tower looming over the restaurant are stunning, especially at night. Generally the quality of food is inversely related to the qualiy of the view, but that limitation does not apply at Les Ombres, and we enjoyed all of the dishes, drawn from an interesting and eclectic carte. Overall nice, but prices probably a touch too high compared to similar quality restaurants in Paris - but then most don't have the view! As a final comment, we found the rigid dining arrangement (sitings at 7pm and 9.30pm) a little too regimented for our liking, but this is a minor gripe.
