“You pay a dear price for the view. A beautiful venue which could be so much better. A Parisian tragedy.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2010

We reserved a table on the terrace. We arrived on time. We were kept waiting nearly an hour! The waiters/waitresses are hilarious in their misguided power trips- dashing about with their microphones. We were positively ignored at one point and my husband had to remind a waitress that our no longer chilled drinks were left at the bar. The toilets were grim, and stank of urine... disgusting.
The prices are outrageous the food average. What redeemed our special, romantic evening together was the glorious view. The Eiffel Tower illimunated, was indeed a sight to behold.

“Fab lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2010

After leaving Cafe de l'Homme I needed to write a tripadvisor review on our great lunch. Together with my wife and our 5 year old son we simply walked in unknowingly and unannounced, and were given a table with the bestest view of the Eiffel Tower. We had a lunch with amongst others grilled iberico pluma marinated in ginger. Very good indeed. Desserts were great: M&M ice cream for the youngest, who told us they got it right. Strawberry soup with Sichuan pepper, organic vanilla ice-cream and 'lemon and meringue tart served in an unusual way' for the others.
And then I read the other reviews... Bad food, worse service. That I cannot agree is obvious. So what happened? Food: well we know what is good and thought is was very good, so I am not sure what to think. As for the staff: simply walk in unknowingly and unannounced. That seems to work very well. For lunch that is.

“WATCH OUT FOR THE WAITER SWITCHING TO MORE EXPENSIVE WINE”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2010

BEING a novice family from Texas eating in a ASSUMED fine french eatery overlooking the eiffel tower we thought we had it made,. the service was poor, the waiter was unable to speak any english, we knew no french THIS WAS OUR FIRST AND PROBABLY LAST WINE ORDERING EXPERIENCE. .we ordered a 79 euro bottle of wine by pointing at the wine list and then when the bill came, IT WAS A 195.00 euro bottle of wine. the waiter had looked at where we pointed at the 1999 bottle of wine, and then came out with the more expensive 1999 bottle of wine. by the time he had brought the more expenseive 1999, the wine list had disappeared. so, before you drink the wine, ask for the wine list to verify that was the wine you ordered. we disputed the bill but the very young waiter would not say it was his fault, we were not allowed to talk to any one of importance, they brought over a girl who seats people because she could speak a little english. and she said we were liars. now, we don't know if liar means the same in french as it does in texas but, it was not a good experience. the food was cold, usual small servings and not very tasty. if it had not been for the wine switch, we would have overlooked all because of the view. tsk on you L' HOMME. MR. EFFIEL IS SPINNING IN HIS GRAVE AT HIS OFFSPRINGS FAILINGS..

“Go For the View & Not the Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2010

Since we had canceled our Les Ombres reservation because it was raining, and couldn't get re-booked the following night, the Ritz suggested going to Cafe de L'Homme. We had an amazing time because of the view, but the food was comparable to eating at an AutoGrill on the A1.

“At least there's the view”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2010

The view from the terrasse of the Café de l'Homme is breathtaking, even for the most jaded of Parisians. Apart from this, the taking of the breath stops cold. On a recent Saturday evening we arrived with friends who were visiting from the USA. At the door, 4 employees were arguing rather energetically. After 5 minutes of having to witness this accueil à la française, we checked in and were directed to the terrasse, where we searched in vain for our table. We were finally seated at a table for 5, after having been told earlier that afternoon that we could not add a fifth person to our table for 4....The service is pathetically inexperienced. The waiters clothes were filthy, and deodorant would have been a nice idea. The menu was unimaginative, and the food unspectacular. The bill, however, was. The proprietors of this restaurant obviously know that the draw of this place is not what's in the restaurant, and I would strongly encourage skipping this place....buy an ice cream cone and admire the view from the adjacent terrasse. It will be cheaper and infinitely more enjoyable.
