I chose this place for a casual dinner with colleagues after having eaten here twice before. Located in a charming area not far from the Opera and near the
Théâtre de l'Athénée, my memory of a slightly upscale pizza place was sorely lacking.
When we arrived without reservations, there was a big confusion as to whether or not they could seat three people or not. The "issue" had to be addressed by the manager, who herself, could not decide. Finally, we were told that we could have a table, but only until 9:45pm. This is quite unusual in Paris, but we accepted rather than walk around trying to find another.
Known for their unique pizzas, two of us chose the "Kim" version and the other in our party selected the cabillaud (cod). The pizzas were huge, covering two plates, but we were assured that we could finish them because the pasta was very, very thin. As it turned out, we didn't know that we wouldn't finish them because they had no taste.
I never add salt to my food...never! But last night, it was mandatory I'm afraid. No taste whatsoever except for the delicious 5 slices of sausage that were scantily included. It was topped with mushrooms from a can, some cheese with no flavour and at one point, I had to send half of the pizza back to the kitchen to be reheated it was so cold. My colleague said the cod was boring, lacking flavour as well.
We figured we'd chalk it up to bad luck, and went ahead and ordered desert. I chose the "chou chou" which was meant to be a ice cream filled puffed pastry with chantilly cream. It turned out being an old croissant, flattened with the ice cream inside. I've never had something so bad for desert. My colleague had a fruit salad, and can you believe it, had to ask for some ice cream because even the fruit lacked taste.
The best part of the meal were the glassed of Chianti Reserve we had.
