We have eaten here twice so far. The second time was because we loved the first visit so much that we brought some friends back there. We live in Paris due to work relocation and are discovering great places like this. Firstly, as everyone has said, there are no reservations so get there for opening time or 10-15 minutes before. Otherwise you will need to wait for people to finish their meals before you can sit down. Some people hold off until later as there is more chance of the first bunch being finished. Others come along and are happy to stand with a drink for 30-45 minutes. It’s not a huge place with lots of large tables so more than 4-5 is tricky. We had a table of 4 with a chair on the end for the 5th and that is about it. Keep in mind too it is mostly eating at raised tables on stools or at the long bar. You have to be happy with that to come here.
What we like about this place is the modern french cuisine. The food all tastes fresh, light, tasty and not a traditional over-sauced under seasoned brasserie dish. Potatoes stuffed with pigs trotters sounds weird or heavy. I’ve had it both times and it is a small light dish (albeit somewhat oily from the pig fat...which adds the flavour!). The lamb dish has been slow cooked and falls apart in your mouth. The country style paté is gorgeous. It would be had to have a bad dish here. Staff are ultra friendly and can manage speaking English if you are good enough to attempt to speak some French for them. It did have to ask 3 times for a carafe of water on the last visit though but that can be quite normal in Paris restos as it is at the bottom of the to-do list in very busy places.
Wine. Hello! Starting at 3euro per glass and price pro-rata to a bottle means you can all drink whatever you like and change with your course without being overcharged.
This place won’t be to everyones liking..the bar stools, the lighter smaller portions than many other places, the busy trendy atmosphere. We love it though and will go back again...and again...
