“Amazing Food and Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

We stopped in while in the area - spur of the moment and the already busy place was buzzing. We had the formula: one had the rump steak ET frites the other a massive fresh salad with cheeses and meats both exceptionally well executed. Best steak on our 4 week trip. Completw with mango crumble and creme brûlée all wakes down by. 500ml of house red for less than 35e for a lunch bargain.

“Don't leave Paris without visiting Le Bastringue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

If you are staying at the Holiday Inn Express on the Canal de la Villette, turn left out of the entrance and walk the 25 metres to this great restaurant / bar. It is busy at all hours, which is a reflection of the great atmosphere / interesting menu / food served / service provided and prices charged. If you are not staying in the vicinity, take the metro (line 7) and alight at Riquet. The short trip from the centre is well worth it if you want to escape the tourist rip off joints to often found in the heart of the city. The restaurant is only 1 minute from the metro.

This up and coming area of Paris is well worth a visit in its own right, but a stroll around the canal basin, after a meal in the restaurant is a must. We enjoyed two evening meals here, and there is NO DOUBT that we will be back when we re-visit Paris. Enjoy!

“Great food, atmosphere, service and affordable prices...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

My boyfriend and I ate here in February whilst on a trip to Paris after reading some very favourable reviews and we were not disappointed. Packed with Parisienne locals the atmosphere was buzzing making this a great place to escape the touristy side to Paris. Both the food and service was excellent and the prices very affordable, we paid about 35 euros in total for 2 main meals, 2 drinks and a shared dessert (the moelleux au chocolate was just deeeelicious)!!! Thoroughly recommend this lovely place to those who are looking for a bit of the real paris lifestyle without breaking the bank. We will be returning when we visit Paris in the future.

Great food, atmosphere plus- this little restaurant/bar is in the Canal de la Villette area just opposite the holiday Inn express. Just outside the rush of Paris but easy to get to by metro, this place has it all and at very reasonable prices.Friendly staff and happy crowd!

“Very good value for money”

Good food, nice music and friendly staff. The bartender spoke English, but everyone was really supportive of our desperate attempts to speak French.
