“Lovely french restaurant - even better waiters!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2012

Lovely traditional french restaurant. But the waiters made the evening so enjoyable! It is a cozy place, so you are seated close to other patrons, but we ended up near a lovely mother and daughter from Copenhagen who we enjoyed conversation and trip ideas during the evening.

I had their specialty - the frog legs - and was not disappointed!
Visit this charming restaurant. You will not be disappointed!

“Get the Frog Legs, Skip the Steak”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2011

Went here on a tip from a concierge. The review here calling it "a sort of a gorgeous dump" is totally accurate. It feels like your old aunts living room - but in a charming, very cozy sort of way.

Service was pleasant and we got a great table. We ordered a variety of things, but the frog legs were definitely the highlight. In comparison to my very average steak I wish I'd ordered the legs as a main versus an app.

End of the day - the place is famous for frog legs, so when in Rome (or Paris)... don't stray too far.

“Good frog legs, great service, ok for other food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2011

We went to the restaurant last night. I had the frog legs Provencale. Fantastic. Tender, garlicky. Others with me had the steak - he had ordered well done, but the steak came burnt on the outside, raw on the inside. Not great. Other friend had the fried frog legs as a starter which was good, and the scallops as main course. Scallops were only ok.

Its a cute place, lots of old knick knacks around the place, great service and good for frog legs.

“Frayed at the Edges...Friendly...Awesome Legs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2011

The first thing you notice about Roger la Grenouille when you walk in is that it's a sort of gorgeous dump. It's worn in, worn out, frayed at the edges. Old letters and souvenirs on the wall. Lots of frogs of various kinds, including a frog skeleton in a box.

There's no pretense here, this place is about one thing -- eating frog legs -- and eveything else is second. This is not a critiscism -- the place is charming and funky and unpretentious. Probably my favorite place and one of the two best meals this time in Paris.

Throughout our week in Paris I'd been lying to my daughter about what she was eating with marvellous results. But there was no lying tonight and she took to her frogs legs like an old pro. How? Why? because they were good, beautifully, simply prepared.

Service was efficient but not pushy. We never felt rushed. We started with fois gras and moved to frogs legs and then dessert. Place was busy when we arrived and packed by the time we left. Lots of fellow Americans so if you're after an American-free zone this may not be the place. But certainly lots of French folks as well...

Worth noting that we got the name of the restaurant from the staff at the very fancy fancy Helene Darroze. The other place they suggested was the amazing but punitively pricey L'Ami Louis. Dinner for two was around 100 Euros -- my daughter didn't drink but I perhaps drank for two...

“A Fun restaurant for a wonderful romantic meal.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2011

My girlfriend and I visited the restaurant for a wonderful dinner. I had the frog legs - and they were absolutely wonderful. She had eaten at the restaurant several years ago and it was as good as she remembered.

As expected, the wine list was very nice, but not overwhelming, with a wide selection.

The staff was excellent and all smiles. I highly recommend it. It is in the Latin Quarter.
