Description: This is alongside Gilbert Isaac La Fermette Marboeuf that Julien Montbabut learn the basics of traditional French cuisine after its formation in Hotel School Grégoire Ferrandi in Paris. He continued his career in fine dining restaurants as the Pavillon Ledoyen and Jamin with Benoit Guichard, then joined the chef Philippe Bélissent to Hotel, rue des Beaux Arts. After two and a half years as a deputy head Chef, in which the restaurant gets a Michelin star, he decided to try his luck at the Pavillon de la Grande Cascade, also distinguished by a Michelin star, where he was quickly promoted to Assistant Chief. At the age of 29, it is through the front door that Julien Montbabut made his return to Restaurant Hotel as a chef. He wants to offer classic French cuisine based on products and following the seasons. He highlights juices, sauces and seasonings. It brings a modern twist and a touch of lightness through its new and short seasonal menu, where you can find for example green asparagus, with caviar Alverta Imperial, Brittany Crab, with lemon & ginger, Duck foie gras with green apple. Under a canopy, the room looks like a private lounge, with its velvet armchairs, lampshades his accordion, mirrors and columns Empire style. The atmosphere is intimate, cozy and romantic. The restaurant opens onto a patio where you can have lunch or dinner on sunny days. It is decorated with a lovely fountain made to plans by Claude-Nicolas Ledoux. In addition to the à la carte menu, a day menu is available for lunch, and costs 45 € (starter, main course and dessert) or 55 € (starter, main course and dessert). For customers in a hurry, this menu can be served in an hour."I can resist everything except temptation"Oscar WildeC’est aux côtés de Gilbert Isaac à La Fermette Marboeuf que Julien Montbabut apprend les bases de la cuisine française traditionnelle après sa formation à l’école Hôtelière Grégoire Ferrandi à Paris.

“Best meal I have had in a while...and we eat out a LOT!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

Wow. I should just end my review with that. We are here last week on our last night in Paris, and had already had many delicious meals while there. We had eaten at Bistros, cafes & other high end restaurant ( Jules Verme) but this was probably one of the top 5 meals in my life.

Atmosphere: what a cool place. Velvet chairs that I couldn't stop petting under the table...I loved the mix of kitchy couches & benches, as well as the interplay of design & textures. Its a very romantic place, sit maybe 20 max. Loved it.

Service: we were treated like royalty. And the timing & synchronous teamwork of the 3-4 servers who were constantly attentive to our needs, was wonderful. Our primary waiter was english-speaking & the others knew enough to describe each plate. Timing was perfect.

Food: oh the food! You MUST get the tasting menu. At first, we saw things on the menu we had never had before or curled a lip at ( sweetbreads?) but we decided 'what the hell?' - try it! And were grateful we did. It changed our minds about several things. The chef's tasting menu ( 5 or 7 course), is the chef's choice, so you don't know what you will get. But every bite, every dish, was a piece of art, and I found myself setting my fork down frequently to elongate the meal. We had the 5 course, which we felt was PLENTY! The portions here, for a tasting menu, are larger than we have had before. Plus they give you a 'chef' appy for free, 2 palate cleansers & a 'pre-dessert' dessert ( what?!) Loved it.

Booze: they didn't have wine pairings as suggested on the online menu that night, but the waiter did a great job at making suggestions. We also came early to have cocktail in the cool little lounge ahead of time, and they were some of the best cocktails I have ever had. And we live in San Francisco.

Price: save up! This one will cost ya! Plan to spend $400+. But seriously, it was worth every penny, lasted 3 hours and this included 2 glasses of champagne, and 5 glasses of wine between us. And those cocktails we had in the bar? They accidently left it off the bill, and when we brought it up, the waiter simply shrugged it off and said its was 'his mistake' so not to worry about it. Who does that?? We tipped him well.

Overall: Go to this restaurant. Spend the money. make it special occasion. Hell, you are in Paris!

“Fantastic! Romantic! Once in a lifetime experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

This is the most amazing, lovely and wonderful little restaurant I have ever been to.
The service was excellent. If I should be picky, it must be that we once had to fill our glasses our self

There were so many dishes that were prepared with so much love and care for quality food and excellent taste combinations. Nothing was left to coincidence

The wine was carefully adjusted to each of the dishes. One dish more artistically performed than the other. I gave up counting, but I think we ended up on 12 dishes.

We were so fortunate to meet the chef after the dinner. I must say I fell in love with this man and his affection for his profession. A huge thank you to this great chef for allowing us to experience this once-in-a-lifetime meal. And also credit to his wife for being responsible for desserts.

If I ever have the chance I will go back. This must be the best restaurant to go to for couples that wants to celebrate romance and love

“Good, but expected better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

It is a lovely small restaurant and the ambiance is first rate. We ordered the 5 course menu and thought the presentation was lovely, however the food was not as good as we had expected. It was more about the artful presentation than anything else. The wait staff were very professional and courteous, but there was something mechanical about the evening. They go through the ritual of describing the little dishes so many times. We had high expectations after reading glowing reviews and felt a little let down. It was an expensive night and we don't mind the expensive part, it just wasn't as good as it should have been for the price. As we finished our dinner we both agreed that we had much more enjoyable dinners elsewhere. Perhaps is we had just ordered something from the menu rather that the 5 or 7 course menu.

“FABULOUS”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

What an amazing experience this was. I don't know what one of the reviewers was expecting but this restaurant met EVERY expectation we had. Wonderful cosy, chic surroundings, friendly experienced and knowledgable staff,INCREDIBLE food. It was pictures on plates at its best, the food looked and tasted wonderful, you could almost feel the love and care put into each and every dish. We had the 5 course taster menu but there were sweet little dishes at various points of the meal that were added. We cooed with delight at the crab starter and could not believe the creativity in the dessert. This was a special birthday for my partner and we were so delighted with everything, the ambience was superb. For those who are interested Tilda Swinton was discreetly eating there too. I do hope she enjoyed it as much as we did!

“Stunning taster menu - real decadence”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

You feel like you're own little world in this place. It was wonderful to have a small plush sofa each. My boyfriend rang up before and arranged for a big red rose to be on the table as we arrived - it was gorgeously fresh! I was sad to leave it in Paris.

We had the 7 course taster menu (eyes bigger than our stomachs), it was simply delicious. The wine was perfect too. The service was quick although it lagged a little after the 4th course - at first I thought this was on purpose but the wait between the latter courses remain a little on the long side.

Aside from that it was stunning. One thing I would change is to have another meat course - we had four fish courses (including the first amusee bouche) and only one meat course of wood pigeon before moving to the desert.

Still, exciting and exquisite tastes and decorations. Take the plunge into your pockets and go!
