Simply put, la Cordonnerie is exactly what dining in Paris should be. Firstly, the place was packed with locals but also had servers that spoke English well; it is easy and comfortable for tourists to access without being a tourist trap. In addition to this, the place is bursting at the seams with charm: quiet but friendly Chef Hugo comes to your table personally to explain what the daily specials are (he also buys all the food fresh at the market daily!)The service was friendly and fabulous; not once did we feel like they were ripping us off because we were tourists. Most importantly, the food was EXCELLENT. The steak with fries in white wine sauce is easily the best meal I have ever had, including several fancy restaurants in the past few weeks.Reservations recommended. A definite must see. Save room for the scrumptious deserts.
