Just spent a week here and wanted to echo the positive reviews. There were a couple of minor niggles, but overall a lovely stay.
I believe our room was not the smallest and it was a good size for Paris. We were lucky to have a modest balcony which allowed us to sit and watch the world go by as it was just big enough for a table and two chairs. The decor is great - clean modern lines with beautiful oak floors (I only wished that the person above us would stop clopping around in high heels once during our stay!). The rooms have everything you need, complimentary tea and water, a mini bar, safe large enough to fit a lap top, iron and board, slippers, bathrobes, free wifi, flat screen tv and clock radio with iPod dock. Bathroom with lovely Occitane products. The air conditioning was very efficient and very quiet and the bed was extremely comfortable with fabulous pillows.
Minor gripes: we did have someone try to come in despite the Do not disturb card on one occasion and we returned to find that the French doors to the balcony had been left wide open on another. As it was just about to pour with rain, it was good that we came back when we did. Whilst the bathroom was lovely, there was a certain knack to showering without flooding the floor. Something to do with the seal along the shower screen I think. We had mastered the technique by day three.
However these really were minor gripes. The overall impression was overwhelmingly positive, in great part due to the fabulous staff who were all friendly and helpful. The lovely smiles and greetings as you passed through the lobby really made you feel like a valued guest. Do take advantage of their advice about restaurants etc. I wish we had done so more often, as we discovered a lovely back street area across Boulevard Montparnasse filled with small inviting restaurants and bistros on our last day, which I am sure they would have told us about had we asked.
The hotel is very handy for the Montparnasse area and there are several metro stations within walking distance. The Montparnasse Tower is great for fabulous views over the city and Gare Montparnasse has rail links to Versailles which take less than half an hour. You can also walk to the beautiful Jardin de Luxembourg within 10-15 minutes. Then of course there is the cemetery which is also in walking distance.
So in summary, a well placed hotel with lovely modern decor and fabulous staff.
