Description: Each one of our tea houses offer a unique environment that combines prestige, raffinement and tradition. They present a tea-tasting salon that allows you to apreciate the best flushes, harvests and tea blends from 12:00 to 19:30. The flushes from the most prestigious tea gardens are steeped behind an old oak bar, a true tea preparation counter. The Mariage Freres' golden rules, are applied and harshly used, for the enchantment of the lovers of the most refined and precious tea. The control of water temperature and steeping time length are compulsory for a successful tea preparation. In order to preserve the tea flavors and scents, a purified water is used. The leaves are taken off the teapot before tea is served. The epicures can also discovert our original preparations baked with tea: the French Art of Tea is for the most part an "art de la table", displayed in the "Cuisine au The" (Cooking with Tea) prepared everyday by our chefs in main courses and deserts. Next to the tea counters, the tea salons, decorated with ancient furniture, set a peaceful path where tea lovers and gourmets can meet up with salty flavours and sweet temptations.

“Simply wonderful afternoon tea experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

We had tea here on Sunday afternoon in April, 2012. Each of the three of us ordered from the afternoon tea menu. Two of us had Club Louvre and one had Club Marais. Then for dessert, we had the creme brûlée and strawberry tart and the blackberry tart. Everything was wonderful and the experience was all that we hoped for.

“Tea heaven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2012

Went alone while my husband was on business south of Paris. Salad of shrimp on little toast rounds with avocado sauce and grapefruit was really, really tasty. What an amazing selection of teas! Wow. Never seen anything like it and I have eaten in many tea rooms. As in other Parisian tea rooms, the menu goes with the time you show up; some treats and salads and sandwiches are available at some times, but not others. The pastries were limited when I was there in the late afternoon, but they were interesting. Service is better than many European restaurants, attentive. The waiters and maitre d' were getting people seated quickly and getting orders fulfilled with haste, but I had a book and felt like they'd be happy with me sitting there for hours, though I only stayed for one. The tea shop has more types of tea than anyplace I've sen even in San Francisco, and is a fun place to look for gifts and find something lightweight to take home in your suitcase for yourself!

“Great Spot of Tea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2012

This may be the premier tea shop in the world. I had their tea at a hotel in Nice and was interested enough to look up the place and go for a visit. I am so glad I did. Their teas are excellent and the variety unsurpassed! From China to India to Ceylon to Japan, all of the best teas. They must have more than 100 varieties. Behind the shop is a tea room where you can have a light lunch and some tea or just some tea. We had two sorts and both were very good. The service is great and very formal. The waiters are all dressed in white from head to tail. Their tea is expensive but worth it. Great place to go for an hour or so to just relax and enjoy your senses.

“My favorite place for brunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2012

This is one of my favorite places in Paris. We have had brunch here three of the last four Easters, and it never fails to please. Delicious eggs, salads, scones, and tea of course. And you must order the creme brulè tart for dessert. A specialty of Marriage Freres ... Delicious! And of course the tea is amazing. If it is your first time, try the popular Marco Polo, which is a favorite. But, there are hundreds to try, so there is something to suit everyone! And, you can buy the tea in the store afterwards, so you can enjoy it at home too. (Make sure to make a reservation, as it can be very crowded.)

“One of my favorite shops in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2012

It is worth walking into Mariage Freres for the incredible smell of fresh tea leaves. Stay to have a cup and a bite at their charming and elegant cafe or talk to one of their incredibly knowledgeable staff members to walk out with the perfect tea.
