“They somehow fit us in!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

We had wanted to eat here and our Frommers guide said reservations not needed but that is not correct! We arrived and were told they would try to fit us in and they did! It was our favorite meal on a 10 day trip! Not that it is super fancy but simple, delicious food. You pick your wine off the shelf to accompany your meal. It is one meal for everyone so you have to know that but we were thrilled. It was a rainy night and we sat near the door and many people were turned away. We felt really lucky it worked out!

“Book a table! They are closed Sun and Mon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

The food is great, the staff amazing and we had a brilliant night. We booked weeks in advance and they were chocker the night we ate there. A mixture of locals and tourists were there. They have the tiniest kitchen I have ever seen and am amazed they can cater for so many and still keep all dishes delicious. If you are a fussy eater this restaurant may not be for you, a couple squeezed onto a table close to us said they would not eat the pork main course dish but I noted that they were served a salad for their main so there may be a different dish if you tell them in advance.

Our only disappointment was that they close on Sun and Mon otherwise we would have returned for sure.

“Best in Paris!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012 via mobile

Amazing restaurant a must whilst in Paris for sure, a little cramped and can be a little to warm in there but the staff where first class and the food out of this world. Set menu normally 33 euros each plus the cost of the wine which range from 10-80 euros good value for 4 course of this quality!

“Excellent bistro”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

A tiny bistro near Le Jardin Luxembourg. Wine racks around the walls and in the cellar. There are not many tables and the place is always full. make sure to book ahead. Food and wine are both excellent.

“Choices complicate great meals...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

In America we pride ourselves on choices. Freedom. The more the better... Well, we had the best meal of our honeymoon on the first night right here at Les Papilles. There couldn't have been a more amazing meal served in all of Paris that night. There's no secret. It's a small restaurant with super friendly staff and no choices because only the best tasting food is prepared and served. I'm not sure how many details are necessary to document for anyone reading this, but I remember so many details of that meal: the blur of English descriptions of that night's meal that we tiredly tried to politely agree to, the time and space between courses thoughtfully placed, the attention given to each table in the restaurant, the restaurant itself, and of course, the food. We didn't realize how many courses we'd be served, so each one was a surprise. Sweet potato soup with sweet potato chips and salted pork and butter, followed by an amazingly layered roasted beef and beans with pesto on the side, bleu cheese and a fig, and the most amazing dessert. It was like a thicker, creamier panna cotta with raspberries... I hope I didn't spoil your meal or experience. And I hope you'll be able to do as we did and just let go and enjoy yourself.
