“Very traditional menu”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

Menu offers many cassoulet dishes, served at the table in individual iron dishes; fish coups solute flavoured with saffron was good. Desserts delicious, coffee ice cream and Mysterious vanilla ice cream recommended. Wine by carafe was ok. Service is rather French! Entertaining to watch cars and passers-by on the little side-street. 2 mains, 2 desserts, carafe wine 50 euros, service included. Reasonable food and value.

“A good surprise!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

We stopped by on a cold night and were impressed by how small but organized this bistro is. It seems they keep the same layout (and maybe the furniture too) since their foundation in 1901! But it felt indeed like a unique experience in a very traditional french restaurant. Food came in a petit casserole and it was delicious! Service was impeccable.

“The worst”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

Truly the worst meal I have had in France.

The onion soup was vile, I've had better out of a can.

The main courses were badly cooked, we sent them back.

The bill had tax and tip hidden - illegally - so that people will add their own tip.

Its a tourist trap - bad food and sneaky service.

You will find better.

“Traditional French cuisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

This restaurant offers very good home cooked French cuisine. The menu is in French and English. We had French onion soup, duck, chicken, and beef burgundy, wine (2 50cl bottles), followed by dessert and coffee. Everything was excellent. Be advised that this a cash only business. Service was excellent. Our bill for three was 105 euro which was about 20euro less than normal.

“Unique Dining Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

This restaurant dates back to 1901 and gives the impression that it has never changed. Tucked away in St. Germaine, it is a real find. The daily menu is handwritten on a chalkboard and the check is written on the table covering.. The food is old world hardy French bistro ,such as duck confit and the house red is just fine. The service is no nonsense and the seating is quite close, but you might meet very interesting neighbors. If you are looking for a fine dining experience this is not your place, but if you want to have a truly French experience, don't miss this one.
