“Great intro to Paris”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

Our first night in Paris we decided to try something near our hotel and we were delighted. This very old but charming restaurant was a gem. Tables are very very close together but everyone staff and guests were warm and inviting. The pate was delightful as was the escargot. My sister had the duck which she raved about but my beef bourginon had a few gristly bits and the gravy was a bit bland but there was lots of carrots and onions and large delicious boiled potatoes. A really lovely evening. Although we planned on it we never did get back again for dinner but look forward to going on our next trip.

“Great French Cuisine, Friendly Staff...Where the Locals Eat!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

We found this great little French restaurant by 'word-of-mouth' on the streets of Paris from the locals...a small, friendly, vintage French eaterier -- we liked our first visit so much, we went back for a second experience...I think we were the only tourists...because it is relatively small, a bit tough for larger groups, but call ahead, the staff is very accomodating...no reservations, try getting there when the doors open...you won't be dissappointed

“Lovely traditional restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

Another restaurant we always go back to when in Paris. Very old (as old as it gets), wonderful traditional food. Rive Gauche. Try to arrive early because they don't accept reservations.

We had really nice evening, enjoyed the wine and had much fun with the frienly staff.
We recommend the chease plate as a must have as well as the Armagnac.

“From the era of Doisneau”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

Enter or rather, be pulled, through the revolving doors, and you will be swiftly seated and offered an aperitif. SeSling coats, bags, hats and scarves above you on a rack. Mainly tourists early then absolutely packed with locals by 9. It's not a place to get dressed up but perfect to have food - brilliant food - after a busy day. We came here 3 times during our stay. The waitress service is very helpful and efficient. The recommended carafes of wine we had (all red) are good value, very drinkable. We would recommend Pate or Onion Soup for starters then possibly Boeuf Bourginon or Cassoulet to follow - these really are excellent. My memories of this place are in black and white, like a Doisneau photo, and I don't think there are many like this left in Paris now: dont miss it.
