Description: Le Petit Pontoise is a genuine institution of the 5th district in Paris. It offers typical rich French cuisine in a "bistrot" atmosphere. The chef has been there for over 14 years preparing sophisticated dishes with fresh season products. He finds his inspiration in the most traditional French recipes. Located right next to the Seine river near the Boulevard Saint-Germain, this bistrot is always fully booked, you will meet people from around the world as well as regular Parisian clients which enjoy this typical French cuisine.

“Traditional with a twist”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

Le Petit Pontoise is a typical Parisian bistro, bustling, crowded and serving traditional fare. But it is done with flair, and the occasional contemporary tweak. Our servers were good-natured and most accommodating. As it was our last night there, I went for real tradition and order duck confit. It came with a generous slice of sauteed duck liver (heaven!), with the meat shredded and served on a bed of delicious mashed potato. For dessert the Tarte tatin filling was pretty good, but the pastry could use some help.We found the prices to be reasonable for central Paris, and the house wines just fine. Only quibble - every single customer in the crammed restaurant was english-speaking.

“Good food, pleasant service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

We found this restaurant by accident. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the service. It offers typical French cuisine, a good qualtity and high quality. We were served by friendly waiters. The wine list is excellent, but a bit pricey.

“Lovely bistrot but seriously overpriced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

This restaturant is all the good things people say in their reviews here - bistrot atmosphere, good service and food (proper tart tatin) but imv very overpriced - presumably exploiting their mention in guides such as DK...

“Don't miss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

Went to this wonderful bistro twice last week. The chanterelle mushroom appetizer was special. Go for the duck on the bone as well as any of the fish specials. The wine is priced ok and the staff is fine with English.

“Above Average Bistro in Latin Quarter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

Our family had a delicious meal at this cozy bistro on a side street in the Quartier Latin. Service was friendly and accommodating. Reasonable value.
