“Go for the view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

The food is good, but the views are even better. The interior is contemporary and the waiters are smart looking and professional. I was there in November on a late Sunday afternoon. Order a glass of champagne and some snacks and watch the sunset. it's magical.

“The views are stunning”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2013

The food was very good, so was service, but the best part was the view over Paris which is a real rarity for a restaurant in the 'city of lights'. Already the opportunity to overlook the most beautiful city in the world while dining deserves a visit.

“Over priced and uncomfortable”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

My girlfriend had booked this restaurant for my 50th birthday as a special treat! Access to the restaurant is awful, a lift that takes you one floor followed by about 7 escalators to get to the top floor! The entrance is difficult to find in the first place

The entrance is difficult to find in the first place, we circled the Pompidou before we found it, it had its own entrance, or seemed to, two guys on the door mumbled something as we passed through and we found the lift which just takes you to the series of escalators.. we blindly climbed up without knowing if we were heading in the right direction at all! Only when you arrive at the top floor do you actually see the restaurant!

The restaurant itself is initially impressive, large, dimly lit with an industrial metal/aluminium theme in keeping with the rather dilapidated rest of the Pompidou.

Our coats were taken and we were shown to the restaurant main area by a rather leggy model type who seemed reluctant to give is a table near a window, reluctantly we were parked into a couple of very uncomfortable seats in the draughty restaurant.

Once our food order was taken we chose our wine, not a great selection an we chose on of the cheapest bottles, 40 euros, it was so bad we had to send it back, I have had better wine for less than £4 from Lidl.

Whilst the food was not too bad is certainly was nothing special at all, my Crispy Madarina Duck was barely warm and certainly not crispy and my girlfriends mashed potato was only just edible, extremely runny and seemed like it had been liquidised!

The service was poor, you had the feeling they knew this was a special treat for us and not somewhere we would normally be able to afford to frequent and other diners seemed to get much better treatment.

We left feeling robbed… all too often the case in Paris, such a shame!

“Great ambiance, and stunning views of Paris”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

Many people seem to be divided about the charms of Le Georges. I had an amazing night there, and would definitely go back, if for no other reason, than the stunning views of Paris by night. The food was nothing special, but very good. I had one of the best glasses of champagne I've ever had in Paris, so it was well worth the price. Le Georges is not a cheap eats kind of place, so be prepared to spend a fair premium. I found the staff to be slightly indifferent, but otherwise fairly pleasant. I'll definitely be back on my next trip.

“Fantastic Meal, View and Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

We had a spectacular evening at Georges, at the top of the Pompidou Center. The view is fantastic; the restaurant overlooks Notre Dame, Le Hotel de Ville, and other beautiful areas of the city. We had a table by the windows (make a reservation and ask for a window by the table), and an attentive and thoughtful waiter. One of our party was a vegetarian who did not eat fish, so the options were limited. Our waiter kindly offered to ask the kitchen to make an omelet for him (which they did and it was great. We had fish (turbo, perfectly cooked), steak and pasta. Everything was served hot and tasted great. It is an expensive restaurant, but considering it is Paris, and the view, not overly so. We had dessert, which was also really good (chocolate cakes, citron tart and sorbet). We asked for a wine recommendation from our waiter, and he suggested a moderately priced, very good bottle, which we appreciated. The only negative is that our waiter suggested (not pushy, but still) a tip would be appreciated. There is a newish trend in Paris to suggest to Americans that service is not compris, which is absolutely incorrect, and an attempt to extract an extra 20% from unknowing Americans. This did not seem as much part of that trend, but still not really appropriate in my opinion. We did leave a tip, but by our choice for excellent service (and 10%, which is in the range of what the French would leave for excellent service).
