“A real gem.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

On arrival at Chez Toinette, we were apprehensive to say the least. It was our last night so we wanted some good food. The restaurant was small and didn't look too busy. In addition it was stifling outside! All of our preconceived ideas changed rapidly as soon as we were seated at our table. The waiter was a friendly guy and it wasn't long before the man at the table next to us turned around to say "the fillet is the best fillet I've ever had". As if that wasn't enough, the waiter then convinced my friend to order the lamb by saying that it too would be the best lamb he's ever eaten. After all of this hype we ordered three main courses and found each one as tasty as the other. The food was good portion size and really was delicious. It isn't necessarily smart so something casual would probably be better suited. If I return to Paris I know where I'm heading to for a good meal.

“traditional french cuisine with a twist”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

Picked chez toinette because of tripadvisor reviews and I am glad we did. The menu is small with traditional french dishes with a slight modern twist. He knows what he is doing and he does it best. The wine list was also small but great. He speaks English too although that is never the requirement for me. about 50 euros person including drinks, although we drank very less that nite. try the lamb shank ragou or the duck it was yummmm.

“Majestueux !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

Fantastic, well thought out flavours, the best ingredients and a mighty half baked chocolate cake ! Very cozy and a livingroom sized room with about 30 seats. You actually feel like a genuine guest in somebody's home.

If you are picky about your food, don't hasitate and make reservations or you are likely to be disappointed.

Bon appetit !

“Cozy, Intimate, Comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

This restaurant has such a wonderful atmosphere! My friends and I came here for a late dinner (at 10pm) and the restaurant was only half full. The host was very charming, friendly, and welcoming. He spoke very good English as well.

We split the escargot for the appetizer. The sauce was very good! After all the snails were gone we kept using the bread to clean up the rest of the sauce.

For the main course I had the veal rib with mustard sauce - it was amazing. Best veal I have ever had. The vegetables on the side were wonderful, particularly the mashed carrot. (The host said that even people who hate carrot love this mashed carrot.) My friends had the salmon in cream sauce and the beef with madeira sauce. They were also delicious.

For dessert we split the creme brulee and poached pear. The poached pear was amazing.

We didn't get out of the restaurant until about midnight, but the atmosphere was so wonderful that I didn't want to leave! Definitely come here, it will not disappoint.

(Note that the menu is not the same on their website - their menu changes monthly)
