“A very pleasant restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013 via mobile

Went here on recommendation of Paris Top-10 book and Trip Advisor reviews. A very atmospheric restaurant with friendly staff. We had a wide range of dishes between us and all were very nice indeed. Menu is pretty big and I recommend a French dictionary as some of the descriptions are complex and not available in English.

“A Wow Restaurant !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

Wow , one of the best restaurant i have ever been at! the food and the service is a win win situation! very recommended restaurant from my opinion. We order for start egg mayonnaise and Foie gras.. despite egg in mayonnaise sounds very normal dish , the mayonnaise was amazing! home made fresh and delicious. no comment on the Foie gras - it just melt in your mouth ...
for main dish we order the Pepper Steak. it was a winner!!! i never tested such a steak.. i was medium well spiced with fresh black pepper and the sauce was absolutely amazing! the service is very kind and warm. the Atmosphere is like getting back in time to old Paris , we loved it
I will definitely return here next time I will be in Paris....

“Reservate on saturday!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013 via mobile

Cosy restaurant in a nice quartier with mostly meat on the menu. We had a steak tartare (18 euro) and a steak au poivre in cognac sauce and pommes dauphinois (19,70 euro), both very good, well seasoned. Afterwards we shared (the portions are royal) a creme brulee (8,5 euro), also excellent and clearly fresh, hence the vanilla seeds. We also had a caraf of 50cl of the bordeaux housewine, nice price/quality (10 euro). Conclusion: recommended!

“film set”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

We have stumbled across this restaurant by chance whilst walking around Bastille. We were drawn to the sounds of a brass band practising in the second room of this bistro. We entered and saw a rustic, unpretentious retro decor, with a waitress who would fit perfectly in one of Jeunet's films.
Together with the mad folk music, this created an unforgettable atmosphere. We drank great beaujolais, ate really good sardines and black pudding (as two separate dishes), polished off a wonderful cheese board and devoured the biggest portion of profiteroles I have ever seen. I will definitely return here next time I will be in Paris.

“Meh”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

It was cool to eat at a typical bistro and combine it with a happy hour experience in bustling, youthful Bastille, but our meal was underwhelming. Escargot was great, but the steak (povoir and bernaisse) were overlooked and lacked flavor. My friend compared her steak to the pre-cooked steaks she had to choke down as a kid. On the other hand, there is a crepe place on the other side of the alley that has amazing nutella crepes. So there's that.
