“Perfect.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2011 via mobile

Why do we always find the best place for dinner on the last night of our trip? This has to be as close to the perfect French local restaurant as Paris has to offer. Great welcome, cosy, atmospheric room, friendly and helpful staff all with food that tastes exactly like you hope from the menu listing.

It is small, the tables are squeezed together but it just makes it all the better. We enjoyed the most wonderful meal of Petoncles, terrine, canard and fricassee d'agneau with haricots and the wine chosen by the waiter was every bit as good as the food. Cheese and apricot tart followed, then coffee and a gentle stroll to our taxi, all in all the perfect end to a superb few days in Paris.

“Authentic family run restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2011

This is a very small, wonderful restaurant. We celebrated our twin sons' 30th birthday dinner and received warm, personalized service. We were served by 3 generations of the family: father, son, and grandson. The main dishes of coq au vin and duck with orange sauce were especially memorable. And the desserts were excellent. This restaurant is not open on weekends but is open on weekdays, including Monday when many restaurants are closed. We booked the reservation by phone.

“A classic tiny bistro”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2011

Chez Marcel is the kind of place you always hope you'll find in Paris, and when you do, it's really wonderful. Not a bargain, but not at all overpriced for the quality of cooking and great atmosphere. Probably no more than 40 seats, so reserve for sure and get ready to enjoy classic French dishes in a setting right from the 1930's.

“Great Food, Great Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2011

This small, local restaurant opposite Hotel Six was a fantastic place to eat. The dining room is small, with a limited menu, but everything we ate was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. We had 3 courses, plus wine (a delicious Cote du Rhone) and the bill came to around 99 euros. There seemed to be many locals eating there too, which I always take as a good sign.

“Best dinner we had in Paris”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2011

Based upon other Tripadvisor reviews, we tried Chez Marcel during Christmas week and it turned out to be the best and cheapest dinner we had in Paris. It was roughly 150 euros for dinner for four including appetizers, main entree, dessert and a bottle of wine. The food reminded us of French country cooking. You need reservations because this restaurant is very small. It only holds about 40 people and that's elbow-to-elbow with all of the other patrons.
