“good for comfort, less for food/value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

Had lunch with friends, who needed comfortable seating. For the circumstances it was an excellent choice. Having arrived early, we were seated on the covered terrace, and were served by an attentive waitress. Some of us had the two course lunch menu, which was mostly about presentation and less about culinary quality, but which for 20e was reasonable enough. The menu overall seemed overpriced for the rather straightforward food. The restaurant's huge seating capacity (two floors, several hundred seats) was filled for lunch mostly by busloads of groups. But the place is packed for dinner, in spite of the salty pricelist.

“Good neighborhood place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

We viewed Chez Jenny as our "neighborhood" restaurant, as it just across the street from our hotel. Because we didn't think of it as a destination spot, perhaps our expectations were not as high as if we had traveled to get there.

The food is good and the atmosphere is charming. What's not to like about pretty china and white tablecloths? We did not experience the food as being bland as some reviewers have; however we were warned by our waiter that the special Chez Jenny steak tartare was "very spicy" - It was not. It was delicious, though.

The waitstaff was pleasant and kind to Americans speaking rather poor French. THe restaurant could be less expensive (but then, we thought that of many restaurants in Paris).

“Expensive, very average food and service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013 via mobile

I don't like this restaurant as the service was bad. I ate the beef entrecôte and it was not well seared at all - infact it appeared very pale. The fries were fine. Overpriced too. The waiter spoke only French and said that in France you only speak French. That is a little old-school in our modern global world, isn't it? The oysters were smaller than the ones we had in another restaurant as well. I agree with the rest of the reviewers that there are many better options.

“The Grand Marnier Crepes Saved the Day”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

This meal was not that exciting. I learned that I likely ordered the wrong thing though. If I were to do it again, I'd get the Sauerkraut as this seems to be the house specialty. After an average dinner, I thought I'd go with the Crepes. They were amazing, and i would recommend them to anyone.

Neat decor, nothing over the top, and seemed to be somewhat geriatric. Service wasn't inredible, but it wasn't bad either.

There are much better restaurants in the Marais.

“There are better choices”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

This was supposidly a popular restaurant but it was really big, noisy, and the food just so so. We didn't realize it was a fish restaurant...and sauerkraut specialty. Weird right? My mom got the cod and it was boiled. My fish was ok but I'd say with all the other small quaint bistros around...you should skip this one.
