“Basic charm, small elevator in between floors, narrow staircase”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2011

Pluses- the bathroom is sparkling clean, close to eateries and the reception was excellent in providing assistance when we enquired on the transportation. Kudos to both Sophie and Sarah!
Negatives - our room was decorated in red upholstery and curtains - makes it look really dark, not very welcoming.
Its about 10 mins brisk walk from the Denfert Rochereau station - can be a struggle if you are lugging heavy bags.

We liked the location, less than 5 minutes walk from the Metro Station of Gaite. It is located on a nice street, where there are various cafes, restaurants, and fresh markets. The cheapest supermarket (Ed) is also very near. It's very Parisian in the neighborhood.

The rooms are a bit small, but comfortable enough. Walls are paper thin, but we got used to hearing other guests coming up the stairs past the room.

We specifically liked the fact that they have free high-speed WiFi. The staff were also very nice, and they are all fluent in English.

Only downside is the elevator which is so small and is located in between floors, so if you have big luggages, it's hard to carry them up to your room. Also, the buffet breakfast served is the same everyday so we got a lil fed up with the same meals for 5 days straight.

Aside from that, everything is great.

Only there for one night. We chose this location (coming back from the french countryside) mainly because it was near the Gare Montparnasse (where we came from) and also walking distance to Daguerre station, where we could catch the RER in the morning back to CDG.
It turned out to be an excellent choice. The concierge was super super helpful. He gave us valuable info on trains, tourist stops and great restaurants around. We got a bit of sight-seeing done by going to the Tour Montparnasse (right before dawn) and ate @ La Coupole, which was around the area. The best part is everything was within walking distance. No train ticket needed. 5am, we walked to the train station (15mn) and got to the airport on time for our 7am flight back to NY

Liked this hotel very much. Staff friendly and helpful. Room was relatively small but you expect that in Paris. The room looked out onto the courtyard so it was quiet. Only problem was lack of coathangers in wardrobe and for the kind of hotel it is they could have served fresh coffee instead of coffee pre-prepared in thermos jugs. Breakfast very good otherwise. We stayed in a more modest hotel in Bruges the week before and they had a fantastic coffee machine in the breakfast room!

The price was excellent for the position and cleaness of the hotel. The reception was kind and rooms were little but very clean and welcoming. Very nice street and not noisy hotel. I'll come back surely :)

This hotel is located on a typically French street, with lots to see. The hotel itself is clean, lovely, with a lift, nice personnel, etc. It was a very good choice and good value for money. It is also near main avenues and the metro.

I had a wonderful experience staying at Hotel Daguerre. It's a parisian-style hotel, very well located in the heart of Montparnasse, close to 2 subway stations (Gaite and Denfert-Rochereau) and about 5-7 minutes walking away from the gare Montparnasse. All members of the staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was small, but it was extremely clean and also it had confortable beds. The other services (including cleaning and breakfast) were great as well. In other words, this hotel fulfilled all my expectations. Certainly, I would be back to Hotel Daguerre on my next trip to Paris. And, of course, I would recommend it.

My thanks to the staff for their hospitality.
