Booked through Expedia the day before the trip - we had trouble finding availability and ended up going here because it was one of the only free hotels within our budget.
We paid around £100 a night, so expected it to be 'ok' at the very least.......We paid for a Comfort room, with air conditioning.
On Arrival we were allocated to room 3001, on the ground floor and through the 'courtward (!!)'. The room was VERY basic. Not dirty, just 'worn' and very dated. Not quite sure if the bedsheets were clean or not..... looked a little greasy if you ask me. There was a kettle and coffee/whitener/tea, small desk, tiny shower and sink in one room, and WC in another. The room was small.... i would say it was bearable, but certainly not £100 per night. We checked back to your receipt and it mentioned air conditioning.......SO went to reception. We were in the wrong room, but all the "comfort with air con" rooms were full, and we could only be moved on the third night - I have raised this with Expedia anyway.
On the third night it seemed like a different hotel - in room 3701 on the 7th floor. The carpets were spotless, the bathroom clean, shiny, brand new. There was a crisp white duvet and pillows (unlike room 3001 with sheets and blanket!), we could open the balcony doors and look out and see the Sacre Coeur in the distance. There was also a flat screen TV on the wall, and numerous additional channels which we didnt have on the small box in room 3001. Totally different, totally brilliant and would recommend to anyone - only if you get one of the nicer rooms!
The staff seemed helpful enough but do not go out their way to be exceptional in any way.
The hotel is not located in a particularly nice area of Paris. There are people out there trying to con you on every street corner and at every area of tourist interest.
The walk to the Metro station Jaunes is 3 minutes. The trip into the centre is approx 10 mins. The trip to the Eiffel tower is about 20-25 mins, but it is nice to walk everywhere.
We had breakfast once (complimentary for being in the wrong room for 2 nights!) and it was very basic. Not worth 8 euros...... There are better things at the little boulangerie just a few doors down. There is also a supermarket up the road 4 or 5 doors.
I would recommend this hotel 100% if you stayed in one of the modern rooms, probably worth the £100 a night..... but it certainly isnt if you have one of the basic rooms. Make sure you book one with air con and you are guaranteed this.
