“More than exceed our expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

Having studied the metro lines I was confident I could get to the hotel, I was wrong, it's down a road, turn a corner, up a road, through some metal gates, but once there, wow, it's great.

The staff were friendly and their English far outwayed my pigeon French!

We had a quad room, September 2012, considering what we were expecting this was far better, sensible bathroom, nice touches in the room, a fan and wifi thrown in.

stayed in one of the quad rooms in August 2012 for weekend... bit worried about having only one bathroom but there is a loo in the lobby

location was great... a short metro ride away from the sights... a few mins walk away from metro station, cafes/restaurants/takeaways... plenty of supermarkets and money exchanges etc

the hotel is located on a private road so no through traffic = quiet.. also the added perk of having free parking.. although spaces are limited.. if no free parking outside the hotel then they have a deal with a nearby car park

room was clean with all the usual feature... only thing missing was a fridge and AC although they do provide a fan

Note -- lift is small and slow but so need to wait.. could always take the stairs

didnt have breakfast at the hotel... plenty of options in the vicinity

the lad on reception during the night was a bit moody... but the lady during the daytime was an absolute sweetheart... she is probably one of the reasons the hotel is rated in the top 10% of parisian hotels on tripadvisor despite being only 2*

Room Tip: avoid 6th floor as sloping ceilings

Hotel de la cite Rougemont is a nice little hotel near the Opera. It's on a quiet little street with easy access to the Metro in multiple directions. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast, as is the case with most French hotels, was simply bread, juice, and coffee. The rooms were small but nicely appointed. Bathrooms were clean and modern. Please note that there is no AC. This shouldn't be an issue unless you happen to be traveling here in July or August, as we were. There is a small elevator.

Found this place quite by accident on here when looking for a place to stay for a weekend in Paris, at quite short notice. I have to say, I'm so glad we did. This place is awesome for the price. It's small with the tiniest lift I've ever seen but the rooms were more than adequate, the location was fantastic for getting into central Paris and made all the sights very accessible. It's also located within walking distance of Gare du Nord if you're coming in on the RER from CDG Airport.

Our room was on the 5th floor with a balcony overlooking the small quiet street below. The room had a double (very comfortable) and a single in it and the bathroom was equipped with a bath with shower over. We were there during a mini-heatwave and the provision of a fan in the room was most welcome - it also helped to cut down on the inevitable noise from other guests, though I can honestly say, we were hardly aware of anyone else on our floor and the hotel was fully booked.

Reception is manned 24 hours a day by some incredibly helpful staff who give advice on Metro tickets, call you taxis and help out with any other questions you may have - and they spoke great English which was brilliant as my French is rusty at best! They don't have a left luggage room but you can leave your bags in the lobby which a lot of people do, and so we did which made our last day much easier as we just popped back and picked our cases up before heading back to CDG to go home.

Breakfast isn't worth the money (6 euro) but there are lots of cafes and shops just around the corner so I recommend saving your cash and heading out instead.

If you're looking for somewhere reasonably priced with brilliant access to central Paris, in a good location, you should seriously consider this place. I'll definitely be booking it again if I return to Paris and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Avoid the 6th (top) floor as these are attic rooms - ask for one with a balcony if you want to enjoy...

Nice and small hotel which was well worth the cost. There were several nice cafes and restaurants nearby. Subway is on street next to the hotel. Only negative thing was that neighbors were bit noisy one night. I would definitely consider again hotel de la cite Rougemont if I visited Paris.
