“We loved it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

We too stayed on the 6th floor, 109 steps up. However going home a few kilos lighter will make it all worthwhile! Loved the breakfast, we walked to the Opera and to Montmarte as found the trains hard to navigate. Nothing at all to complain about.

My family was visiting Europe in May 2013. We stayed in this hotel for 4 days in a quad room. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The room was very good, spacious and clean. It had a large bathroom. The view from 6th floor was excellent. The location is excellent, its right outside the train station Gare de l'est and there are multiple bus stops across the street opposite the hotel entrance. Hence, it was extremely convenient for our daily travel to Paris attractions. They had a good breakfast spread. There are many restaurants near the hotel - Pizzerias, McDonalds, There is a self service laundry 7-8 mins walk from this hotel. They have great wifi (free) connectivity. The staff is very courteous and always ready to help. The quad rooms are located on 6th floor and the lift takes you only up to 5th floor. One needs to take the stairs from 5th floor to 6th floor. This becomes a problem while checking-in and checking-out especially if you have lot of bags.

Room Tip: Avoid room on 6th floor as the elevator takes you only till 5th floor

Hotel is located just a stone's throw away from Gare de l'Est train station. Very convenient for Eurail travellers who want to explore Europe via rail! There are lots of restaurants and eateries nearby. If you like Chinese food, there's a Chinese restaurant called Chong Ching that serves a la carte dishes as well as buffet. But their waitresses (Asians who speak French, mind you) can be pretty rude and impatient.

This is a very convenient hotel within 10 mins walk of Gare du Nord and right opposite Gare du Est. This is the best USP of this hotel, namely its location. The hotel is customer friendly. The breakfast is just adequate with the staff being very friendly. Most of them understand English which was of great help. Near the hotel are Asian markets with many Indian restaurants which provide delicious Indian food at reasonable prices. There are too many smokers in the vicinity of the hotel (due to the bus stop, Metro, etc. right in front of the hotel). Hence the outside of the hotel is a passive smoking zone!

Room Tip: The rooms facing the road are OK, since they offer a good view and are not noisy due to the double g...

I stayed here with my family and the hotel was horrible. It smelled like a sewer throughout the whole place, the atmosphere was sketchy. On top of that the room service ransacked through my mothers, 2 young sisters, and all of my things on our last day while we were gone and stole all of my little sisters money which was hidden in a very discreet place. The staff were rude, unhelpful and very unwelcoming as well. Trust me and do not stay at the Amiot Hotel. You will regret it.
