“Quaint Neighborhood Gem with Endless Charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2011

My fiancee and I traveled to Paris for a quick Valentine's Day weekend together, and could not have been happier with our hotel choice. Just off bustling Rue Cler, the location was a huge selling point for us. Hotel du Champ de Mars is positioned right in between the Eiffel Tower and Les Invalides, and is less than a 10 minute walk to each. But, our favorite part about the location was that Rue Cler was right outside the front door. An extremely charming pedestrian street with open-air markets, restaurants, and shops - there's always something happening. We were a little unsure about finding a place to eat late on Saturday night (11pm), but there were still a number of options right around the corner, and we still felt safe walking around the area after 2am. It had a great neighborhood feel.
The room we stayed in (#2) was small, but very clean and well kept. We even had a little courtyard entry to the room, which made it quiet and private, as if we were staying in our own separate bungalow. We didn't see a single other person while we were there that did not work at the hotel. Definitely a huge bonus for a quaint and romantic weekend! The bed was comfortable, the bath/shower had plenty of hot water and pressure, and there was even a television in the top corner of the room with CNN in english.
The owners of the hotel were extremely nice, helpful, and unassuming. They have the front desk staffed 24 hrs/day due to the fact that when you leave the hotel you need to leave your room key with them. This turned out to be sort of an unexpected surprise for me, as you didn't have to worry about losing your key, and there was always someone available to help with anything you need. Apart from the owners, there were two other gentlemen who helped cover the night shift at the desk, and all spoke english pretty well. At the front desk, were able to buy museum passes, print Eiffel Tower tickets, as well as arrange an airport shuttle. There was a small miscommunication issue with the shuttle due to the fact that is was going between two of the desk attendants and we weren't completely sure they had it scheduled for pick-up, but it ended up working out in the end.

Highly recommend Hotel du Champ de Mars - amazing value, charming neighborhood feel, and adorable by design.

This is our second stay at the Hotel du Champs de Mars because we love it! The location is superior ~ a few steps away from rue Cler which is filled with marvelous little shops, eateries, etc. Some of Zagat's finest restaurants are also within a few walking blocks from the hotel ~ Christian Constant has several on rue Saint-Dominique; Le Florimond (located on av. de la Motte-Picquet) is even closer to the hotel.

Rooms are tiny (this is Paris after all), but beautifully decorated. Rooms also have either a closet or armoire to store luggage and clothing. Our room, #45, had an abbreviated view of the Eiffel Tower. We were also told that our bathroom was going to be renovated after we checked out on February 3. We thought the bathroom was in beautiful condition, so it is apparent that the owners take great pride in maintaining their facility.

FYI ~ this hotel does have an elevator. An important feature for many travelers.

Don't hesitate in making a decision to stay in this charming little Parisian hotel. :)

My daughter and I stayed at this wonderful little hotel for 3 nights. We truly enjoyed it. The staff was amazing and so was the breakfast. Our room was small, clean and cozy. The only down fall was no AC, but there was a fan and you could open the window. The location is fabulous, 10 min walk to the Eiffel tower, great cafe's and markets all around! Fabulous!

We found Hotel du Champ de Mars through TA, and whilst my initial communication with them was slow & a bit unnerving, it was a FANTASTIC little hotel almost hidden out of the way. Yes, the rooms are small, but they are clean & comfortable which is the main thing. The front desk staff were very pleasant & happy to help answer any questions. The location is ideal, in the 7e just off a quiet pedestrian market street with lots of little delis, butchers, patisseries and restaurants. The hotel was approximately a 10min walk to the Eiffel Tower (If you walk the right way!), 5 mins ish to the Hotel Des Invalides & Ecole Militaire, 20 mins walk to the bottom end of the Champs Elysees / Louvre.
The only little things that weren’t so good was that the room was so hot, even after a long day out sightseeing in winter, the room was very stuffy & hot, so much so that we left the window ajar during the night just to get some cooler air in (even though it was only 3-5 degrees when we stayed). Also, there wasn’t a mini bar fridge in the room, so we were unable to make use of the cheese & wine shops on Rue Cler and with the room so warm anything would have gone yucky very quickly! But having said that, at 100 euros per night, you can’t complain with what you do get. We didn’t eat breakfast at the hotel during our stay, instead opting 2 mornings to go to cafes, then for the remainder of our stay bought our croissants and pain au chocolat at the patisserie on the corner & brought it back to our room to eat.
I would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel if you are looking for somewhere central, yet sticking to a reasonable budget.

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel, at the beginning and at the end of our trip. It's not easy to find affordable hotels in Paris and I think this is a good choice if you don't want to spend too much money. It's a basic hotel, very close to a nice area of restaurants and shops and about 1 block from a subway station. It took us about 40 minutes to get to the hotel by taxi from Orly.
We didn't try the breakfast as there are some options around. The room was nicely decorated and according to the price, not big but comfortable enough for a short stay.

I have stayed at Hotel Champ de Mars for the last three years while in Paris promoting the children's summer camp that I co-own with my brothers. It is a very cute hotel with rooms that may be small but are beautiful and funcional. The staff could not be more helpful, and friendly. The owners Françoise and Stéphane make you really feel like they are glad you are staying with them. The location is fantastic. Rue Clair is a great area with lots of good restaurants. It is about two blocks from the Eco Militaire metro stop. An example of how honest this hotel is, I left a whole bunch of credit cards in the room safe last year (guess I was in a rush to get to the airport), and they found them, emailed me, and mailed them back to the USA for me. Because I knew this hotel so well, I did not bother to cancel any of the cards, and none of them we ever used. Thank you!

We are from HK and lived at X'mas time. We would like to express our thanks to one bright staff, SLYN who did help us a lot during the stay. The room are cosy and nice. Clean bedsheet and tidy bathroom. We did have a good time here!
