Where do I begin… we stayed at our beloved Hotel Emile during our week-long vacation in Paris, and loved every aspect of it. We had done a lot of research on picking out a central location, yet quiet and trendy. Marais was the answer; safe with amazing little café’s bakeries, parks and museums dotting the area. We figured out that other more popular locations such as the Latin Quarter, St Germaine and Mont Martre were too touristy and busy while we were exploring the city. Hotel Emile has the added bonus of being right across from St Paul metro station. We got a five-day metro pass and got around Paris effortlessly (the best public transport system I have come across n all my travels). The hotel is also flanked by two restaurants… the café on the left had a heated outdoor seating area where we had our relaxing nightcap after a tiresome day exploring the city.
As for our rooms… we were well aware of the fact that Parisian hotels had tiny rooms, and this is the case for the room we were given. However, these rooms are very efficiently designed, utilizing every nook and cranny. I, being a girly girl, had lot of stuff, not to mention all our gadgets! We unpacked our suitcases and put everything away on the only available shelf which seemed really small, but was perfect for all our things. The toilet was a separate room; however, the shower was just a glass partition. This might pose a problem if you are not a couple. It worked really well for us. If you need a hairdryer or other gadgets that are usually provided at other hotels, you need to request for one, as the rooms are not equipped with them. All the fixtures used were state-of-the art, and the room was tastefully decorated. We had a nice view off our balcony which we enjoyed.
The only elevator at the hotel was alarmingly small. We were scared the first couple of times but then we got used to it. If you are claustrophobic, the only other option is a very narrow staircase or you could ask for a room in one of the lower levels. The staff at the reception area was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Breakfast (included) consisted of orange juice, coffee or tea, baguettes, croissants, butter and an array of jams! Delicious!! We would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Paris. We will return on our next trip
