“Good Value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

Our guest room was large and the bathroom was spacious. The elevator was small, but we were able to use it to transport luggage. The location of the hotel was very good. The value is very good. It is an older hotel, but it is maintained well, the rooms are large, and the staff was friendly. There is no central airconditioning, so it was a little warm in the room during our stay. Overall, I would stay here again/recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: If going when it is warm temperatures and want to sleep with the windows open, stay in a room on a h...

Having read the excellent reviews on this hotel we were looking forward to staying at this small, family run, Parisian feel hotel. That description is true BUT our experience of our room was not good. It was on the 6th floor, accessed through a separate door on the 5th ( which had to be unlocked to get out) and which took you into an area which can only be described as ' servants quarters' including the room we were staying in! The access door had ' Hotel' written on the other side of it as if you were leaving that behind you.......and that's just how it felt. No ensuite, a separate toilet off the corridor and unbelievably a tiny shower THREE floors down. Because of the key business we went down to the shower together as otherwise one of us was effectively locked in.
In my opinion this room should not be let for all sorts of reasons not least of all safety. It had not been decorated for a very long time, was drab and extremely basic, nothing like the rooms I had opportunity to see on my way downstairs. My guess is that it is mostly used for staff. There was one other numbered door but the rest had 'private' on them. We have stayed in quite a few hotels and this was by far the worst experience.
When we booked with Budgetplaces by telephone all we were told was that the bathroom facilities were not ensuite but were private along the corridor. We had no choice but to accept the arrangement when it was told to us on arrival.
We were really looking forward to staying here for our wedding anniversary break. I had done a lot of research into booking our stay and had even recommended this hotel to two others based on the Trip Advisor reviews. Obviously we will now have to tell our friends of our experience. To their detriment, I feel this hotel will miss out on further business due to obtaining revenue from the letting of a totally unacceptable room. - false economy.
The staff were very pleasant, breakfast enjoyable and punctual, the area good and central but overall our experience was a very disappointing one.

Room Tip: Don't book 6th floor room

Martine, Versace (the very friendly dog),and all at Hotel D'Argenson made our stay in Paris such a wonderful experience. Three of us travelled together,I had been to Paris years ago and didn't have a good experience. It was the first time in Paris for my daughter and sister and we all had such a brilliant time. We had a spacious room with a balcony, large windows that opened, breakfast served in the room any time up to 10am. The moment we entered the hotel we felt at home, very welcoming. We needed to get shoes re soled in a hurry Martine arranged it for us!! Central hotel at a very good price, we'll definitely be back!!

We just got back from a weekend in Paris and stayed at the d'Argenson. We loved it! If you are looking for an American-style Best Western experience, this is NOT the place for you. But if you are, then why go to Paris?

The staff was very helpful and patient with my bad French. They got us in an hour early. The lobby is cozy and often graced by a pretty dog which made us homesick for our dogs! There is a TINY lift but we got our bags and the two of us in.

No key card... the key is an old fashioned steel key and you have to push it all the way in to get it to engage the lock. The room was very old-style but the bed was comfortable and the place was clean. The bathroom had clearly been added on at some point in the past but it was fine. Plenty of water pressure and hot water.

The window view out onto Hausmann was excellent. There is a pastry shop (try a Frasier) right downstairs (closed Sunday as is most of the neighborhood).

It is an easy walk to the Arc de Trimumph (about 1.8km or just over a mile) and the Champs d'Elysees. Going the other way down Hausmann you get to L'Opera and the Galleries Layfayette (also closed on Sundays) in about 1.2km. You can pick up a red tour bus at either of those points or pick up L'Open Tour near the Arc. Plenty of eateries nearby. Metro pretty close but not so close that we wanted to haul luggage. Taxi from Paris Nord was about 10 or 12 Euro.

Free internet that was pretty fast. Breakfast in the room in the morning. Croissant with butter and jelly, coffee or hot cocoa (excellent), orange juice. Small TV with one English channel (CNN) but who comes here to watch TV?

My wife was concerned about the lack of air conditioning. This is early September and we were comfortable enough with the fan provided in the room. In the dead heat of summer, I can't say.

This hotel really made me feel like I was in Paris and not just at some other cookie cutter hotel. The staff was great and very helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay again.

We stayed here with a family of 4. It is a nice option for having everyone in one room- 3 beds. With Paris hotel sticker shock, this is a solid option for not spending a lot and still getting the charm of being in Paris.
We loved the morning delivery of fresh croissants. Our room was clean.
Negatives: the bathroom was squeezed into a corner of the room in a renovation, so its oddly cramped.
I would just suggest going into this hotel with the understanding its a quirky budget option, not a hidden gem.

We booked the hotel on the recommendation of PeterFrance. He was spot on. A great value hotel, within walking distance to Champs Élysées and Arc de Triomphe. A lovely bakery on the corner, and cafe's nearby. Staff were extremely helpful and the bonus of room service breakfast was a lovely start to the day. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the d'Argenson hotel while in Paris. It is an older style hotel and is located at 15 Rue d'Argenson which is classed as the Champs Elysees & Grands Boulevards area.

Our hotel room was basic in that it had a double bed, a toilet (plus a shower) and a balcony which was good as we could see the hustle and bustle of the people and cars go by. The room is serviced daily

There is no restaurant attached to the hotel and breakfast is served in your room (we informed them the previous night as to what time we required breakfast). Breakfast consists of a croissant, a bagette and tea or coffee. No choice of eggs bacon etc. however there are plenty of restaurants and patisseries close by and as a matter of interest, there is a patisserie located adjacent to the hotel...absolutely delicious!

There is a rail station named 'Miromesnil' close by (approx 200 meters) from the hotel, and the Champs Elyesse is only a 10 to 15 minutes walk (approx 1km) heading South.

The room cost 126 euro/night however, you pay for the convenience of the location. Staff communicate in English and were extremely helpful, polite and courteous.

We will have no hesitation in returning to this hotel. Hope this info is helpful.

Room Tip: A balcony room may be a bit noisier, but we were on holidays and it did not bother us..
