“Good Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

This hotel is clean, affordable, and located very conveniently to the Eiffel Tower, cafes, and other attractions. Rooms are small, but clean. Nice breakfast included. I could see the tower from my room window.

Ok a little dated and a bit of a squash but it was clean and the shower was hot, there was a hairdryer in the room and a window which opened. Some had a eiffel tower view which added to the charm. Location was convenient for metro/restaurants and eiffel tower. Staff were polite and helpful. Good value for a couple of nights stay.

We stayed at the Hotel Kensington this summer. We were traveling for three weeks in June and this was the only BAD experience we had. The location was OK but that was good because we did not want to spend any additional time in the room. We had to pay in advance, when we got to the room there were water stains along side two walls and it smelled like a locker room. I went back downstairs to ask if they had another room and the answer was no. I then took photos of the awful room for documentation. Thank goodness we were in Paris and it only a one night stay!

I have been traveling throughout Europe for 3 months and this was the worst hotel experience i had and we chose it mostly based on price but i would have rather paid way more for a little more service. The room itself was ok but we had some room where you had to go outside on to a balcony to get to your room and it rained a lot on our trip so that sucked. The room was kind of set up like a death trap b/c he had a massive step and drop off to get into the room with a slanted ceiling as you walk in. The hotel did not provide you with normal pillows only tube pillows. The room was clean well they cleaned it one day and forget to the next and apparently by time we came back for the day the cleaning people were off and the closet w/ towels was locked so we couldnt get any clean normal size towels. Hotel staff was AWFUL. NO one was helpful at all. We would ask for directions or to point things out on a map or for names of things and it was always a neusense and we stayed for 4 days and saw 3 different front desk associated and they all had an attitude. Sometimes they were watching tv or a show on the computer and would get very angry when you would disrupt it. The hotel has free wifi but ONLY in the lobby. What they failed to mention is that the front desk associates sleep in the lobby at night so you cant use the internet after 1130/12 or whenever they wanna go to bed for the night. Location wise it is great and within 5 minutes from the Eiffel Tour but Paris is massive so if your seeing anything else but the Eiffel tower be prepared to hike or take public transportation which is easy and cheap. I would look elsewhere for a hotel.

If you're looking for a well-located, clean, safe hotel at a great rate, then this is the hotel for you! It's quite basic in terms of amenities and charm (or lack thereof), but it does have free wi-fi (in the lobby), an elevator, a view of the Eiffel Tower, a quite-decent shower - and a great rate! I did miss having A/C during the recent heat-wave, but it safe and quiet enough to keep the windows open. The reception staff were all quite pleasant, and my room was cleaned well each day. And, again, at the rate I got, I was able to add an extra night to my Paris stay!

Room Tip: Room 63 (a single) gives a view of the Eiffel Tower. Decent-sized room and shower.

My wife and I stayed at the Kensington for four nights. Although the hotel is very basic, the location is excellent and the price is reasonable. The hotel is located in the heart of the Rue Cler neighborhood and is located just blocks from the Eiffel Tower, Ecole Militaire, and major metro stops. It is also located close to a the neighborhood Carrefour (grocery store) which is open until ~10pm, which is late for Paris.

The rooms were small, basic, and a little below my expectations. I am not picky about mattresses but our mattress was well below average, we could feel almost every spring and it was uncomfortable. Also, our room faced the street which was loud with the constant noise of buses, garbage trucks, motorcycles, etc.

The service was hit and miss. The night receptionists were friendly and helpful but the daytime staff was rude. Note that the hotel has a childish policy that guests cannot take their room key outside of the hotel, which means you must checkout and checkin everytime you leave the hotel. The lady daytime receptionist was exceptionally rude - acting as if she could not be bothered to check us in, often signaling for us to wait while she finished watching a YouTube video or ending a personal phone call. It's hard to believe management allows this situation to exist.

We did not have the optional breakfast, but I recommend refusing this option and instead eating at one of the many charming patisseries or cafes in the neighborhood.

Overall a good value but with basic amenities and service. I could stay again but will probably look for a nicer place next time, even if it costs a few more Euros per night.

Room Tip: Get one away from the street, the street is very loud

Located in a great part of Paris, not overly expensive and everything is what you would expect from a 2* hotel. Didn't have the breakfast, but would guess your 6 euros will go further at the Carrefour City by the Metro.
