“Fantastic location and great value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

I think the best point about this hotel is the location. First day in Paris but once I was outside Gare da Lyon I took me only one minute to find the hotel. Also for all our sight seeing metro/RER was always there. The rooms were small but you are in paris, and I think this was a very good value for money. Glad to choose the hotel and would surely go back again and recommend to others. Also the Croissants in breakfast- those were fantastic.

Stayed here for two separate nights. Its a great location just across the road from Gare de Lyon but in a quiet side street with professional and friendly staff. Very good value for a budget priced hotel. Rooms on the upper levels are slightly larger. I would recommend this hotel for folk passing through Paris as it is so convenient. Lots of restaurants nearby as well as any other necessary shops to stock up.

Room Tip: As for a room on 4th floor or up

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Palym as a stop-over on our train journey to Nice and then again a week later on our return from Nice. It's very handy for the Gare de Lyon - just across the road - and that's one of the reaons we chose it. On the outward journey we had a room on the third floor and we had no problems with it. Very clean and comfortable bed. On our return journey however we got Room 1 on the ground floor. Still clean and comfortable (and still handy for the Gare de Lyon, believe it or not!!). Now the problems: the air conditioning didn't work so the room was very warm. We therefore opened a window but the noise from the street was awful, so we were less than happy. Just as we thought it couldn't get any worse, we were then subjected to an array of aquacoustics (to coin a phrase). Whenever any of the other guests in the rooms above us decided to use their bathroom the sound of water flushing down the wastepipe in the boxed-in corner of our room was horrendous. Needless to say we hardly slept at all. We told reception about the wastepipe problem the next morning and the two ladies at reception exchanged a look that obviously indicated that this was not the first complaint that they had received in relation to this problem, and also the lack of air-con. We weren't even offered some recompense for our discomfort. Management- please get this fixed. You clearly know about it and are doing nothing.

Room Tip: Don't take Room 1. It's hot and noisy.

Like other reviewers we stayed here because of the proximity to Gare de Lyon. We had an early morning train to catch and this was convenient and affordable.

I will echo what others have said, the rooms are small but very clean. There is not much in the way of amenities. No shampoo if that's important to you.

The internet wasn't the best and they wanted you to 'register' with some personal information before using it and also watch a short commercial for a car. I 'registered' with totally fake information, not my own name, address or email. It worked fine.

We didn't get the breakfast. The elevator is small and slow, but if you've been to Paris before you expect that. The only concern we had was the location of our room. It was in the back of the hotel, so very quiet but we looked out onto an alley...six floors down! I hate to bring this up, but we both thought we would be dead if there ever were a fire in this hotel.

I really couldn't recommend it for a lengthy stay in Paris, but for one night and maybe getting a front facing room, sure go for it.

As mentioned here by many reviewers, the rooms here are small, but I expect that is the norm in Paris. For us, the hotel was great. Location is directly across the street from the Gare de Lyon. We arrived from Lausanne, walked across the street, dropped our bags off and away we went. Hotel staff was helpful and spoke English very well.

The room was spotless. This is very important for us and can honestly say that it was very clean. Bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The rooms have air conditioning, but the weather was cool so we didn't need it.

Hotel breakfast was ok, again by Paris standards. Fresh croissants, rolls, coffee and juice. I think the rate was 8 euro person. Nothing special, but not bad.

The only negative about the hotel was the wireless internet. The first night we arrived, the network was down. The next day it was up, but it was somewhat difficult to connect and because it's provided by a third party, they kept asking for email information and passwords every time we tried to connect.

Overall, it was a good choice and we would definitely consider staying there again.

We were travelling from London to Barcelona by train and wer staying overnight in Paris and wanted a hotel near Gare de Lyon which we were departing from. The Palym is only 200 metres away and ideal. The hotel is exceptionally clean with friendly and helpful staff. They have a facility to store luggage after you have vacated the room if required.
We thought the breakfast could be better value with the additionof some cheese or cold meat.
will stay here again.

This is a small hotel located next to Gare du Lyon. This hotel give you a good location, clean average size rooms and basic services with a reception open 24 hours. However I missed the little extra services like a safety deposit box, minibar or possibility to have coffe tea at the room. A safety deposit box was available in the reception for an extra charge and tea and coffee could also be bought in the reception area but we were told we could not to bring this to our room. We did not try the breakfast as we wanted to experience different cafes in the morning. There were several good lunch/evening restaurants in the neighbourhood and I would specifically recommend Bistrot du Coin on Ave. Ledru-Rollin 73. Overall we were satisfied with our stay.
