“Finally a major change in East Paris!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2014

How pleasant it feels to finally enter a hotel/bar/restaurant decorated in the most original way in East Paris. I went there for a short 2-night stay and I was offered an upgrade to a Deluxe room (very spacious, not exactly in line with the Peruvian decor of the Ground Floor but who cares). Big plus in the rooms : their connected TVs. I connected my iPhone to it and used it as a wireless iPod dock which was quite cool. Minus : the corridors are too dark and I don't get why they simply don't put more light in them???

As for the restaurant, the staff was very polite and discrete and the food was simply mesmerising. Such great value for that kind of cuisine! I tried the Fried poached octopus followed by the Parihuela --> simply delicious and really different from what I tried in the rest of Paris. The chef came to greet me and my wife at the end of my meal and he said they were the first fine peruvian concept restaurant in Paris. It all makes sense now, thats why I liked, simply because peruvian food can't be found anywhere else in Paris. First time I tried Peruvian food in and drinks in Europe (the cocktails were very strange, fresh and tasty, try the Pisco Sour).

You must try that place!

Room Tip: Choose rooms on top floors, they have more ceiling heights apparently!

Dear Jordanolebon,

It is always great to read such a pleasure in one of our guest's review. Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts about the 1K Paris with the Tripadvisor's community.

As you underlined it, our rooms - spacious and soflty decorated as it can be - will soon be connected with the Peru concept as our bar & restaurant already are. I am glad you also took the time to try our unique smart tv system. Simple, easy and you get connected so fastly thanks to your own and unique wifi access. Then you just have to lie down on your bed and download everything you want from your device and from the internet and put it on the screen!

The menu "concocté" by our chef Julien B. is as faithful to Peruvian taste as innovative thanks to his spicy skills. What we offer can't be found nowhere else in Paris - even in Lima! No Parihuela is cooked as it is done in our cuisine. Next time you come you must definitely try our Ternera attached with our Pisco Punch! Then the latest surprise is to be found behind the curtains... Do you know what Mezcal is? We would be glad to show the way into a place you won't even think can be found in a hotel...

Thank you again for being with us. We hope to see you very soon.

At the beginning hotel seemed to be nice but a little bit strangely organized - reservation process took around 4 days, and I was asked several times to send back same info (probably different people from front desk didn't share e-mails with each other). After arrival everything was set up. Hotel in good location, nice surrounding, looking friendly outside. Ground floor freshly renovated - in "Peruvian" inspiration design. Elevator - one didn't work, second one was renovated and if you had bad luck - you could stick to the wall.
Corridors and stairs - without enough light, like darkrooms or techno clubs in 90's. Unfriendly. Rooms - spacious but with strange light (multiply colors) and design of beds bringing on mind esthetics from futuresque porn movie. Leaving design on side - heather didn't work.
Service - restaurant and bar wasn't able to serve hot tea because they weren't working - even if they were suppose to.
Finally - money from my room was stolen and I was refused to get certification from hotel that I reported it to the front desk, at the same time nobody from hotel management (and it seems that there's a lot of managers in this hotel) was willing to contact me or take care of his customer. The only thing I was advised was to go to police station. Fortunately in that case French Police was able to help me more than staff and management of this 4* design hotel in Paris...

Dear Sir,

It is important for each and every guest to share their own personal thoughts regarding a place they’ve stayed at. We thank you for doing so.

As far as we understand your point Sir, the hotel’s style didn’t fit your own taste. Our rooms are all decorated in a white immaculated design, from our king size bed to the bathrooms walls. Indeed, it was important for us when we built the rooms’ design that some colors can be found in it and bring a bit of life.

Regarding our organization, your booking was confirmed two days after your request, for a simple reason, it was a group booking and we offered you a special price. We are sorry to read this didn’t help as a good start. We also recall one request about a birthday present if we are not mistaking. In order to make you happy we did bring you one of our Chief’s delicious cake attached with a HAPPY BIRTHDAY word from the management. We are quite sure many people would have loved to read this from you and not from us. Quote we do everything we can in order to turn a simple hotel booking into a feeling you’re almost at home when in our hands.

As for the last part Sir, we wrote to you giving you the normal procedure when something is stolen from you – in a hotel or outside the hotel. You must have noticed when you were in your room that a safe is in the cupboards when you need to leave valuables as you are out. Are you sure you did used the sage? Sure the money was lost in between our walls?

We really hope you will find a positive issue on this and if we could be of any help please just ask.

With our best regards,

1K Paris

the price of the hotel doesn't worth the service you get. the hotel is very nice and design oriented and in a really good position, but the service is awful.
breakfast is sooo poor. I paid 18 € for 1 croissant, one slice of bread, 1 mini marmelade, 1 mini butter, orange juice, some fruits. there wasn't a real buffet. just small tiny trays. I asked for a cappuccino and it took 10 mins (not exagerating) to get it.
the hotel even lost my lugguage I gave them to keep until my departure. they gave it away with the lugguage of a leaving group. the had to send someone getting my lugguage at the airport and it took 1.30 h!!! I had some meetings that day and I went late. I got no apologizes from the hotel nor a glass of water or a coffee for the incovenience.
really really bad experience!

I am writing this review in the hotel foyer as the advertised wifi does not work in the room. In fact nothing much does work properly except the receptionist and she was lovely. Forget room service and this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel. Fire standards are compromised by poor maintenance. A hole in a fire door where the lock should have been was a bit off putting. The decor is has been stated in other reviews and is too dark to the point of being dangerous as I could not see properly The rooms are small but this is Paris. But do they need to shut down the air conditioning just because it is October? The room was stifling hot but due to location on Boulevard it was too noisy to open the windows. On the up side it is a good location. At the price 350 euros a night Without breakfast thought it did not offer value for money but I don't know Paris prices that well.

Room Tip: Check if you can can have a room at the back

The hotel is centrally located, the décor and furniture are nicely set. However, I have experienced an uncomfortable stay due to several reasons.
I have dialed room service extension as stated in the In-room directory; the extension was corrupted. After calling the reception, they told me that this extension is not programmed. They transferred me to the restaurant team whom offered a cake only... No food was available during afternoon time.
The room key is mechanical. They asked me to leave the key at reception for security reasons which I appreciated. Surprisley, one night, I came and asked for my key. It was not available because they have given it to another guest. They opened for me with the master key and they have given me the key later on after retrieving it.
The electricity in the room went off because I turned ON the AC. I have to go to the reception to inform them and they turned on the electricity back. I was not able to turn the AC back since the electricity of the room can not accommodate the AC to be ON.
I paid a very high rate and i did not get the value for my money.

Dear JeanPierre001,

Tripadvisors' readers need to know what's happening in a place they might soon choose to stay in. Thank you for giving your feeling about your last travel Sir.

I recall you talked to me about these issues. I offered you several choices that would have made you forget about these discomforts. I am sorry you stayed on these and forget our efforts during our opening to turn your uncomfortable stay into a comfortable one.

When you start over sometimes you don't plan everything. I thank you for getting back to us on the several issues you've had. All of them have now been fixed.

I hope that very soon you can come back on Tripadvisor and see that new travellers discoring the 1K Hotel were pleased either by the design and also by our service.

Wishing you all the very best for the future,

1K Paris

We stayed at 1K in the Marais for five nights. Our room was quite large with a very comfortable king-sized bed. The bathroom was incredible with soaking tub, two sinks, separate shower, towel-warming rods, and private toilet area. The hallways and elevator are dark, but not so that you cannot find your way. Breakfast was nice. The hotel was completing renovations when we arrived and this continued for two days, but the workers made every effort not to disturb the guests. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. We had a 6-month-old baby girl with us and they went out of the way to accommodate our needs. The location is super convenient and I would definitely stay there again.

Dear Wimzical307,

Thank you so much for your warm review.

We are glad you could have been one of our first customers to enjoy our new hotel: 1K Paris, with its new bar & restaurant, based on a 100 % Andean accent.

More than a beautiful place, we have also done our best to recruit wonderful people to join you during your travel by the Incas.

With our warmful regards,

1K Paris
