I stayed 7 nights here and was happy with the cleanliness and friendly staff. The room was spacious enough for one person though the lighting was not sufficient so it was rather dark inside. The bathroom had a shower and sink, with the toilet being a shared on in the corridor. The shared toilet was very clean and well-maintained, with modern fixtures.

One problem was that one electrical plug was not working and the extension I had for the room fan was not long enough to use the only plug which was working. I was lucky that it was a cool period (even though it was in August) so I did not need the fan. I did ask for a longer extension chord and mentioned the malfunctioning plug but the problem was not addressed.

Overall good place to stay, only one block from the metro station, in a decent neighbourhood.

I was in pursuit of a reasonably priced, well-located hotel with a little charm. After hours of searching, I found Hotel Monte Carlo and it turned out to be just what I was looking for!
I was traveling with my brother and the website stated there were no twin rooms available for our date. Clearly we can't share a bed (cooties!) so I contacted the hotel directly and they managed to find me a twin room. Beware if you are a restless sleeper though--the beds are the narrowest I've ever seen! The room was very small but well decorated and on a great street. Lots of french charm. We had an en suite bathroom and our windows overlooked the street. Great neighborhood--many restaurants and shops and it felt very safe. While it was a bit of a hike to where we were headed, it was a good excuse to simply walk the streets of Paris and enjoy the scenery. No free breakfast but the wireless was complimentary. I would definitely recommend!

service from the front desk was fantastic....the carpet could be renewed.....great location.... so all in all great place to stop at

Walking distance from most of the tourist attractions as well as from Gare du Nord, it is a good choice for travellers coming by train from London.

The standard room's size is quite small. That, combined with the gloomy view from the patio windows, will not make you want to stay in the room for too long. Having said that, the decor is quite quaint and homy.

The front desk is helpful if not overly friendly.

Skip the breakfast - it is overpriced and really poor. There are many places within 5-minute walking distance that offer much better quality - for less.
