We stumbled upon Philippe Excoffier in our neighbourhood, and booked to go with friends. All four of us had a delicious meal and a special experience, despite having very different tastes. The food was beautifully prepared, the menu diverse enough to cater for sweetbread lovers as well as more traditional fish eaters. Lots of accompanying vegetables, reasonable prices and a warm and extremely welcoming staff - particularly the chef's wife. She recognised us as we walked past the next day and waved, and we felt like locals. Maybe that's the secret ingredient of a good restaurant and a happy dining experience: you are treated as if you are 'in the know' and made to feel you belong.
