My girlfriend and I recently stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and had a fantastic time.

It was part of a longer holiday in France so we drove down from Calais. We had no problem finding the hotel and that was even with my girlfriend map-reading. We left the car parked illegally outside while we unloaded bags and checked in, luckily we didn't get a ticket, and then I drove the car to the underground carpark near the Pantheon. It took about 5 mins to walk back.

The area was perfect for us - quiet at night, but only about a 20 min walk to the restaurants and bars on the left bank. It was also a stones throw from the Luxemburg Gardens and the little Bistros around there.

The room we had was on the 3rd floor and (just) had views of the Patheon. It also over-looked the quiet, tree-lined street below and was very characterful and atmospheric, in fact exactly what we had hoped for. The room itself was fine, a decent size and the bed was massive with plenty of room for me, my girlfriend and the chamber-maid. The bathroom was small but adequate and had a bath that you could almost stretch out in. The whole hotel was very clean and pleasant and had been decorated in a very French style, which is slightly over the top and tasteless in my opinion, but that's what you want in Paris, right?

One morning we had breakfast brought up to our room (they only do this with a continental breakfast) which was great and the other we had breakfast in the dining room where there was more of a choice with fruit, museli and other odds and sods available.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful - specially the chap on the front desk, sorry, can't remember his name...

Overall would definitely recommend this to a couple wanting a relaxing and romantic weekend in Paris.

And the Relais Saint Jacques is our favorite hotel : We love the location and also sitting down in the evening on the comfortable chairs with a hot cup of verveine and reading the charming books.

The hotel is well located quiet and peaceful and the staff are very friendly and helpful however for the price and appointed 4 star standard of the hotel it is hugely disappointing.
The hotel is no more than small rooms off a narrow stairwell and small lift. The lounge/bar on ground floor is a fraction of the size denoted on websites and is usually unstaffed. The rooms are tired and the quality of linen and towels poor given the 4-star rating. This hotel would be a good 3-star if the prices reflected that rating, but given the cost and the expectation presented through the quality rating it fails to deliver and you are left feeling hard done by upon paying and departing. this is sad as overall if the hotel was rated appropriately it would be worth a stay with a good location in terms of accessibility to the metro, to bars, cafes and bistro's and importantly the superb shopping locations of St Germain de Pres etc.

Service was lovely and the hotel room very sweet but the hotel is in a very quiet location and its bar area isn't really made for lounging in. We did have a lovely stay there but had to keep heading to the RER to find nice places to relax - the area around the hotel was deserted (although this is common in Paris in August).

The room had a lovely view of the street and the top of the Pantheon and as usual in Paris the bathrooms were extremely small - barely room to brush your teeth! The front desk staff were very helpful but head out for breakfast rather than having it here.
