“Very good 2* Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

For a 4 day citytrip we booked a room in this nice hotel.
A good price with great value!

Near Gare du Nord (few minutes walk) and near Metrostations it's an excellent place to stay!
Great staff, very friendly and helpfull, personal attention and a nice room with bath.

Room Tip: At the backside of the hotel rooms will have no traffic noise and stay cooler because the sun doesn...

This property is 10 minutes walk from Gare Du Nord so it is well located, you might not think much about the area until you start spending money in the rest of Paris, then you will start to appreciate this low cost location.

This area is pretty comparable to Kings Cross in London.

Room was small but very clean, it was hot in the room but i simply switched off the radiator.

If you are flying in to Charles De Gaul the train RER takes you straight to Gare Du Nord, everything else is pretty central after that.

We booked this hotel because of the 4=3 nights promotion. The hotel is badly maintained. Shower has molt in the shower head, the room smells, holes in the walls. The bed was hard, but that is quite common in these hotels. Another big problem was the central heating system. You can't turn it off, it can only turned off by the reception. So our room was like a sauna. We even went home a day earlier because of the state of the hotel. I'd rather spend a bit more next time for a better hotel. Avoid this hotel.

2 star hotel, basic needs provided. Bit squeezy but ain't a problem for us. Affordable and accessible as it is the near the train station both to all over Paris and Europe. Yup, you are just a 8minute walk for your next train trip to all over Europe. Staffs were friendly. I'm a Muslim and several Halal stores are available over several minutes walk away

Room Tip: Hotel rooms are just for you to sleep, shower and keep your stuffs if you are travelling

I don’t review unless the hotel was amazing or, on the other hand completely awful. In this case, this was the worst hotel I have stayed in, and as a world traveler I have stayed in hundreds.
The staff, whilst being extremely friendly, hardly spoke english. As a result there were some mixups. Several times we asked about the airport shuttle and several times we could not get a straight answer. And there was absolutely no way were they any help as far as touristy questions about various sightseeing tours etc...
I chose this hotel, not the cheapest one in the area, because they had free wifi, a necessity for me, and an elevator, a necessity for my older husband. Well, after checking in, we were told that there was no wifi above the fourth floor, we were on the sixth, and the elevator only went to the fourth. The stairs were spiral, uneven wood, very narrow and the hallway all the way up was not lit. Truly these stairs were the most dangerous things we encountered during our whole stay in Paris. The elevator could not hold two people at once, let alone luggage. A disaster. The wifi only worked on one of our three laptops whilst we were in the lobby. Very frustrating.
The Room: What can I say? It was reasonably clean but so old and rickety and broken we almost considered leaving. And I am NOT picky. But, the bedspreads were old and worn and one of them had a huge rip right in the middle of it. Two of the pillows didn’t have pillow cases on them. The cupboard door was broken and hanging. One of the windows was open and unlockable. The towels were very old, worn, white gone various shades of grey and very stained. The tub was built in such a way that no matter how careful you were, water would end up all over the floor, soaking anything and everything on the floor. They had a younger male doing the chambermaiding and he simply was inadequate. Our tub and toilet were not cleaned and he did not know how to make a bed. In fact the last night, my daughter got into bed and felt a lump. Upon investigating she found her pj’s rolled up under the sheets. He had made the bed right over top of them.
The breakfast was good. We were allowed a croissant and a roll each morning. We had meats and cheese slices, fruit cocktail from a can, plain yoghurt, jams and cereal. The first morning the coffee machine was broken as was the juice machine. For ten euros though I would recommend you walk around the corner to the boulanger and buy baguettes or brioche.
All in all, I suggest you find somewhere else to stay. This place was not only a total dump, and a rip off, but a fire trap as well. This was not the Paris experience we were looking for.

Room Tip: If you really are going to stay here, don't book above the fourth floor.

My partner and I didn't expect much from the hotel because it was very cheap. However what we encountered was not acceptable nor healthy.

We decided to stay there because it was our first visit to Paris and we wanted to be very close to Gare du Nord. This was the only positive thing about the hotel. It was extremely close to Gare du Nord. it was a 5 minutes walk.

Directions

Get out of Gare Du Nord (the exist where you can change your money and near the cash point) turn LEFT, then Turn Right onto the road where all the restaurants are. You'll know that you are walking the right way when you are passing the "hippo" steak restaurant. Walk to the end of the road. Then you'll be on the busy road, where you'll need to cross to the other side. There's a small restaurant when you get to the other side. Then there's another mini crossing. Then walk up the road (less busy), if you keep a look out, you should see the hotel.

Welcome

When we first arrived, it seemed quite disorganised, they didn't have us on their records but then after they made some calls they showed us to our room. We took the small lift up to our room. It looked very dated but French. We could imagine it looking nice when it was first launched or just refurbished-It looked quite nice on the euro-star pictures and the hotel's website (deception)

Our room

Our room was very dusty, the headboard looked greasy and we didn't feel comfortable. It was not sound proof! because we heard everything that was happening outside our room. We wanted to wash our hands after the journey and the tap was releasing loads of black gunk. We had to call someone to come and check it but it happened a couple times, which again made us question whether it was ideal for brushing our teeth etc.

Overall, we tried not to make the hotel ruin our time there but it was horrible and we have no plans of returning.
