“Central, clean and quiet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2009

This hostel is really good: it's in the town centre, in one of the most beautiful areas of Paris, and the building is very nice.
The room was clean and even if we were five, I didn't felt the sensation of being cramped for room as happened in other hostels.
The staff is kind, breakfast is good...really can't find a negative side.. maybe the price: a little higher of the average.. but I think that is worth it.

I've stayed here two o times this year and I will definitely come back again. The price is great, it's in the most central location in Paris and breakfast is included in the price. It's a really safe atmosphere as well (there's a security guard at nights and there seem to be a lot of young school groups). This place is not like any of the hostels I stayed in London. It's very clean and not your typical noisy backpacker accomo. Very impressed!

we stayed at the MIJE in july 2008, it was absolutley amazing...perfect location just in the centre of paris 2 mins walking to the famous rue de rivoli in which u can shop till u drop!

it is very close to the notre dame and if u're a walker then u can absolutley get to most of the city's attractions on foot!

we were 4 person and booked a quadruple room..the room get cleaned everyday and is nice...somewhat small..but okay...the breakfast was nice..the reception was really helpful and spoke perfect english, there's a computer near the lobby with 1Euro/hour internet access...i simply loved my stay at the MIJE and would definetley come back later...

The 3 MIJE's just north of the Seine in the old center of Paris have perfect location (Metro stop St. Paul). The walls are paper thin, but if you bring ear plugs, you will have a very comfortable stay. Rooms have their own showers and the facilities are clean. There are over 400 beds between 3 central locations making it a great option for last minute travelers.

I rate these hostels above average because of their great location. Otherwise this is a fairly typical hostel, set in a historic area.

I'm looking for a girl that I shared a smile with on May 21st, 2008 in the breakfast hall at the MIJE Fourcy. If you have any information please e-mail me.

Thanks,

I quite enjoyed my stay at MIJE, but I can see that it wouldn't necessarily be everyone's cup of tea so I'll try to simply lay down the facts. Take them as you so desire.

My bed was way up in an attic type area, very cosy indeed, and had no problems with the sleeping arrangements. There was a bathroom off the main room area (no toilet however - just a shower and sink) which was nothing overly wonderful, but better than many other hostels around the world.

Toilets were shared but clean.

The hostel is in a lovely area, very close to metro links and just a short stroll from Notre Dame. It is, however, directly opposite a cathedral that starts ringing its bells at 8am. If you're one for long sleeps ins... this isn't the place for you.

Breakfast was tasty if inexciting. The hot chocolate on offer was quite spectacular.

Generally the staff seemed quite friendly. Even the much maligned night guard appeared tolerant enough when myself and a fellow traveller were outside making a bit of a ruckus late one night. No problems here whatsoever.

Internet in the lobby was acceptable, although a bit pricey and the keyboard was a nightmare.

There is an alcohol ban on the premises, which pretty much excludes any serious partying. If that's what you're after... then don't stay here. That said, we managed to smuggle a few bottles of wine in one night and nothing came of it. But don't expect the place to be going off like many other party oriented hostels.

It seemed like the vast majority of guests here were school students. I suppose they can be a bit noisy but that's the luck of the draw and you could cop it anywhere.

Overall? I personally think for the standard of accommodation and the location, you won't find better value in Paris. All the other cheap places seemed to be out in the red light district or the suburbs. This one is within easy walking distance of Notre Dame and the Louvre, provides a comfortable, safe place to sleep and is cheap as chips. Very much recommended.

I'm moving on from the whole hostel experience but I just love the MIJE so much. I first stayed here (and at Fourcy) three years ago and spent 5 days here again in July 2006. It's still just as great. The location simply is the best. The Marais is such a wonderful place and to stay there is even better. All MIJE are in the Marais so even if you stay at the others you'll be staying in the area. The hostels are old hotels particuliers, or old mansion-type buildings that are really beautiful. With Maubisson, you are a minute walk from the Hotel de Ville and it's metro stop, so convenient, as well as a short walk to Ile St Louis, Notre Dame and then over to St Michel and beyond. The people who stay here are students of different ages, and a quieter kind of backpacker - not the party crowd. So if you're after that, go elsewhere. I've always met really really nice people here. The rooms are great with a max of 4 to a room, with it's own shower and basin (there are several toilets on every floor), and there's a lift and baggage room. The front desk and kitchen staff are ridiculously nice. BTW Fourcy has a lovely courtyard which is great for reading and writing postcards, so that might slightly edge out Maubisson, but they are all super.
