“Budget hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

This hotel was recommended to me by my sister, who had gone on a school trip.
This hotel is not very expensive, the staff is nice.
The rooms are very clean.
We had a processed only with breakfast. For dinner we went to an Italian restaurant located nearby.
The subway allows to reach various parts of the city.
Near the hotel there is a beautiful park called Buttes-Chaumont, which is a 10 minute walk away.
Suitable for those who want to visit Paris wants to stay in a "hotel" very cheap.

We went to Paris last July (2011) and I booked Etap Hotel Paris La Villete. It was recomended by our friends. It is totally worth the price; this is rather cheap hotel but the staff was so courtious, the room was really clean and the buffet breakfast was excellent. The underground station was only 100 metres away on the left hand side, and on the right hand side about 400. We went to Disneyland on the 14th of July and came back really late. I didn't feel so secure walking these 400 metres with our 11 year old daughter. During the day and early evening we felt fine. The perk of staying in this hotel is the most beautiful park in Paris called Buttes-Chaumont which is 10 walking minutes away.

This is the most depressing hotel I've ever stayed in. My room was disgusting. The carpets had so many mystery stains that I barely dared take my shoes off. The walls were covered in dirty marks, the blind was old and filthy, and there were several cigarette burns beside my bed. It was so horrible I called my partner back home and cried like a baby. If I hadn't been on my feet for more than 17 hours when I checked in (and it hadn't been 11pm), I would have found somewhere better as fast as humanly possible.

To make a horrible night even worse, I awoke to the news that several of my party had been attacked by bed bugs during the night.

This dirty, smelly, bug-infested dump needs to be shut down and completely renovated. It gives the Ibis brand a seriously bad name. Only stay here if you hate yourself!

Room Tip: Book somewhere else!

Since I first started coming to this hotel it's been rebranded as an Ibis Budget from an Etap, but nothing much has changed. This is a cheap and cheerful hotel in an excellent location. Free WiFi and a convienience store just outside, 5 minutes walk from the Metro. The rooms are *very* basic, but clean and well kept. For travellers on a budget I really don't think this can be beat for central Paris.

I visited the same hotel in 2004 and I've found it less pleasant this time in terms of facility. Impressed by the body guard presence at the desk during the evening hours. Personnel are very kind and helpful.

This is a very basic hotel. The rooms are clean but too sparse for our liking. Breakfast was OK and not a bad added cost. We booked as it is part of a very large hotel chain and although it did the job, we wouldn't stay there again but pay more for something a bit more luxurious.

The Etap La Villette was always a very good place to stay at low cost - it is actually within the city limits, very close to the Buttes Chaumont Park and the St Martin Canal. Now it has become an Ibis Budget - I hope Accor does not put the prices up. The hotel is exactly the same as it was in Etap days - double bed with bunk bed over it, separate shower (excellent) and separate lavatory with a fixed seat. The wash hand basin is next the window. I found everything clean and in good order with very pleasant helpful staff. The cooled air system could not cope with the Paris heat wave but then the temperature was 39 degrees. Exceedingly good breakfast with very fresh bread, yoghurts, apple puree, cheese, jam, marmalade, honey and muesli. On 3 of the 5 mornings the outdoor terrace was opened - a very pleasant experience. I heartily recommend the Ibis Budget La Villette, Paris 19e
